Genesis' owner was arrested today at her mother's home!!!!!!!!
These are the charges;if convicted
1). Abandonment of a domesticated animal--carries a $1,000 fine plus
180 days in jail.
2). Torturing and/or Killing of a vertebrate animal--$5,000 fine plus 1 year
jail.
So those are two Class A misdemeanors. We still have to go to court. We haven't won yet, but we're closer, right?
I am elated and surprised that it happened this quickly. I hope to God that she is terrified and remorseful. I hope the guilt is eating at her. I hope I can take a break now for a little while from this stress.
I want to give you some info that I was given today by my landlord. The cat belonged to the mother. She had the baby since kittenhood. She gave it as a gift to her daughter when she moved into her first apartment. So she wouldn't get homesick.
The mom is in a wheelchair and lives 75 miles from here so she was physically unable to visit the cat. However, she said she called once a week to check on the both of them. Was always told that everything was OK. The mom is very distraught over this. I feel bad that she lost her kitty. Maybe I'll meet her when we go to court. I'm sure that Genesis had been loved and cared for most of her life. She just didn't deserve to die like this--no animal does.
Thank you all for your support through this. Knowing you guys were there for me really gave me strength to go forward and not give up.
