My boyfriend and I just got a black lab puppy. She's 8 weeks old and we named her Isis. Surprisingly, the cats are doing really well, they don't get too close but they come up the stairs for a look. Isis just wants to play with them. I've never had a puppy before and she's a lot of work so far but she's totally worth it

Isis is an absolute doll! There's nothing sweeter in this world than a kitten or a puppy
. And, yes, they're a ton of work. But, they're also totally worth it.

Congratulations on your newest addition. Isis is just precious and I'm sure she will bring much joy and love to your human and furry family alike. I think it's excellent that the kitties aren't throwing tantrums over the puppy and that Isis is not acting aggressively toward the resident cats. I think they'll all be great friends in no time!

Good luck with Isis and please keep us updated on how she's learning, growing, and fitting in. I love puppies and Isis just makes me smile
-- she's too cute!

Well my boyfriend left for work last night (at 3 am), he works out of town and will be gone for 3 days (usually he's gone for 4 and back for 4). I came to the conclusion that I'm not really a dog person, definitely more of a cat person
I do love dogs but I might go crazy before he comes home Saturday. She ate too much grass yesterday (don't know how we prevent that) and got sick twice last night. I'm also not 100% sure she's too crazy about me. She can get quite agressive towards me. My boyfriend says I need to be more forceful so I'm working on that
I left her gated in the kitchen this morning so I could go to work and she was freaking out, barking and whining, I can tell I'm not going to get much done this week. I just hope that gate holds until I can go home at lunch and check on her...

Here's hoping I make it through this week

Perhaps you 2 should crate trrain her, most dogs den anyway and if you introduced the crate with positive vibes, that may help. She is adorable.I had my yellow lab for 15 years he just passed away last year. They are wonderful dogs given the right training and reinforcing it.Repitition is the key i believe, enjoy that beaty Isis.

This is very very good advice!
She is a cutie thats for sure!

Whatever you do, DO NOT reward the whining by giving her attention of any kind! IGNORE her! Also most puppies are mouthy and discover things with their teeth! I think instead of actually being aggressive she is probably just unaware that what she is doing is wrong! Make a loud yip if she tries to hurt you and avoid looking at her, it should help.
