A late start for me as I had an appt first thing in the morning.

Let's go with an about you one:

As a child, what job/profession did you want to "be when you grew up"? How much different is it from what you are doing? Or are you still seeking?

When I was really little I wanted to be a child psychologist and live in Perth, Australia. I ended up being an educator and living in Canada.

I wanted to major in music, though, when I went to college but my parents wouldn't let me, saying it wasn't a "real" major. They paid for my 1st year of college, but by the 2nd year when I was paying for everything myself, I felt it was too late to change my major to music. I had been out of practice for a year and a half and did not feel confident enough any more to try out for the university band.

I used to tell my family I wanted to be a doctor and have regretted ever saying that! Thats what they still expect of me, and I found out I dont want to be in the medical field. I've looked into radiology and some stuff but its just not what I want.
I want to do Interior Design. And I was an interior design major, but they refused to help me pay for college and I ended up dropping out. I want to go back though! I would love to do Interior Design and Event Planning.
I may also look into getting my pastry chef degree eventually. I love baking, but I dont want it to become work!

I wanted to be either a teacher or a nurse, I became neither. Went into data entry instead but now I am retired.

I wanted to work with animals. Now my house has animals and am pleased with that. I volunteer working with dogs.
I have a graduate degree but since learned that field isn't really the best match.

When Iwas little I wanted to be an actres, then later I wanted to either work in a Book Store or work with animals. What I ended up doing was working with children, work that I hated.

Right after my first viewing of Star Wars as an 8-year old, I sat down and started drawing spaceships; soon after, upon seeing the sketchbooks and blueprints from the film that you could buy, I took to making 3-view drawings of anything mechanical/technical. I knew I'd be a draftsman/designer of some sort.

I'm doing exactly that. And have been doing it for 22 years. I now hate it. I'm not designing hyperdrive updates for the Millenium Falcon. Who knew?

I wanted to be a concert pianist. I took piano lessons for 12 years starting at 3 years old. As I got older I learned more instruments and am now sort of an all around musician. But now I just play music as a hobby. Right now I drive for a moving company. But I'd love to be a vet some day.

You are a special, special person.

I very much wanted to be a vet when I grew up or at least work with animals in some aspect. I was never good at science however, and knew I could never operate, put aniamls to sleep, etc.

So now I work as an Asset Coordinator for Xerox which isn't even close.
That being said though, where I foster, and help cats in need, that is fullfilling that dream.

I've never known what I wanted to be, and still don't...I kind of wanted to be like a ghost hunter at some point in my early childhood, but I don't count that

Oh, but I AM trying to be a lawyer

When I was little I wanted to be a Big Cat trainer. My parents would take me to Marine World and I was always glued to the tiger enclosures. (At Marine World now 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom the trainers go in with the tigers)

Now I'm an unemployed Pet Stylist. I am pretty burnt out with the grooming and so ready to try something else, I'm just not sure what that is.

When I was a child, I sewed clothes for my baby dolls. I also designed and colored dresses for my paper dolls. I wanted to be a dress designer. I got married two times instead.

Well, in grammar school, the first thing I wanted to be was a ballerina. My, uh, upper attributes ruled that out at puberty. Then I wanted to be Madam Curie except for the fact that I was lousy in chem in college. Next, I went into psychology but quickly realized, after taking a computer class, that that was my love. I graduated with an MBA in Management Information Systems.

Know the question was about grade school, but I had such a journey that I thought I should share.

I wanted to be a lawyer and when I went back to school, I did consider Environmental Law. I became a Planner instead. I majored in Geography with a concentration in Environmental Planning.
