I brought in a stray cat last week. She isn't too skinny, but is small in general. I was petting her last Tuesday and felt kittens moving around in her tummy. Last night she threw up twice, and was having visible contractions, spaced far apart. She would cry out when the contraction hit. Tonight she is still having contractions(a little closer together), only cries out on some of them. She has thrown up once about 10 minutes ago. She isn't eating but is drinking and using the litter box normally, and is sleeping for the most part.. The issue is she is not producing any kittens. I'm worried, but I also tend to be a worry-wart. What do you think? Any insight would be helpful

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

What you mean she is not eating? Since when?
Make sure she eats! And yes, ER vet!

She ate yesterday morning, refused food last night, and only ate a tiny bit today.
Closest ER vet is 3 hours away, I'm out in the boonies. She hasn't thrown up since the time mentioned before, and has been running to the litter box and squatting.

as I remember, many doesnt eat much shortly before delivery. So this detail does need to be dangerous with any luck. Her throwing, and having long labor, is more serious...
I too do suggest a vet... If you cant get to a vet, can you phone a vet?
Another suggestion, is to try to get advices (telephone guidance) from a knowleable cat person. If you know any. Say a pedigree cat breeder. A shelter... A neighbour who does have unspayed cats and thus - experience of cats and giving birth.
Almost any as long as you are fairly sure they do care about the cats in their ward.
A pedigreee breeder will of course not come out to you personally - she wont take any risks of contagions. But the chances are good she can and want to help with advices.
Good luck!

Well..she has had 2 so far, both are stillborn. The first one's intestines were outside of the body, the second was perfect, just couldn't get him going. She seems ignorant of the process of cleaning the sack off of their faces and doesn't pay them much mind at all, maybe because they are already gone? I tried getting the second going, suctioned, rubbed..nothing worked. The first one she didn't deliver a placenta, so I'll be up watching for that, right now she is sleeping. Not sure if she has anymore.
I'm sad for the kittens, but glad she is finally birthing them and is doing much better than earlier. I'll be calling the vet in the morning for an appointment to make sure everything is ok with her, and will be looking into getting her spayed.
will updated if anything else happens, Thanks for the help.

Many young first timers dont really know what to do, although it usually comes on after a while.
Here they were stillborn, which gives another explanation, as you already said.
Good the first kitten WAS stillborn, so you werent forced to help it wander on...
Good you tried with the second. I understand from this you DO have a knack for this, and you DO have quite some knowledge..
A little tip may be - one problem not so unusual may be they are too cold. So warming them up do helps some of these "stillborn". -
So your rubbing was a step in the right direction.
If she doesnt care, and this are all she had - good she didnt care, so she will not sorrow them so much.
You are doing great!

Good luck!
