I was probably 10 years old. We lived in the country and I remember dad brought home a kitten. We named her Coochy. And she attracted a stray cat that we took in that we called Tiger. And he was a Tiger, a little less domesticated than the typical house cat. Great mouse hunter though.

We always just had birds until one fine night a black tomcat adopted us. I was 39 years old. A late cat bloomer.

There was always a cat in our house from the time I was born. I don't remember there ever being a time without a cat in our family.

I was maybe about 3-4 years old. I wanted a little white female kitten so badly ("with blue eyes, and a pink nose, and pink paw pads, and pink in the ears").. I cried every nite wanting a kitten.

I remember coming home from doing errands with mom, and dad had left a surprise on the kitchen table.. a bag of kitten food that had a pic of a white cat with blue eyes on it.

We went to the shelter (my twin brother was also wanting a puppy).. so we were each getting a pet. I looked around at all the kittens.. and ended up choosing a little black male. The reason why I chose him? He was sticking his paws outside the cage and crying "pick me! pick me!"

I grew up with a whole menagerie of animals but the one animal I really wanted was a cat, and my parents wouldn't let me.

After I moved in with D he sais he would really like a cat too but we agreed we would wait until I finished college. But I encountered Ernesto and Mimosa before that and just couldn't resist. So finally at 22 I got my cats.

Growing up, we only ever had doggies, my whole family were cat haters, I would as a kid ask them "why?", but they could never tell me! So I was just lucky that my best friends always had cats, and I would get my kitteh "fix" when I visited their houses...flash forward like 20 years, when I first bought my house, my friend was having trouble with her husband, so she stayed with me for 3 months. And brought her elderly cat "Dinky" with her..After she reconciled with her hubby and moved back with him, I would have visions of her cat sitting in my bedroom window, like he always did, at night, seeing his cat silhouette, I missed that terribly! So after a couple of weeks, I adopted 2 cats (David & Lilly) from the shelter. I was 30!

I grew up with cats most of my life. When I was a baby, my father had a big orange tabby cat named Scratch. This was years ago on a farm. Scratch actually was big enough that he went out and killed gophers and the wild rabbits. I remember the day the house burned down. It was a mobile home. Scratch escaped the fire and got out alive, only to be attacked by my aunt's dogs, who lived at the bottom of the hill.

Around early 90's, I was 4 or 5 that time when I saw a little stray white kitty with different eye colors, blue and green. I begged my dad for it and we had an agreement that I should be the one to feed it. We brought it home
Dad named her "Muning". When I grew up I realized that people in the Philippines called every cat that way

I don't remember a time growing up that we didn't have cats. The first cat I sorta remember was a beautiful black girl named Paws. She was a polydactyl. The first cat that was all my own was a tabby boy who I named Tarzan. The reason I named him that was he would run across the room and then take a flying leap and would swing on the curtains. He lived about 15 years and went through a bout of male urinary infection. He was killed soon after I married by a big dog who came into my parents' yard.

We had one black cat with long silky fur. She gave birth to a blue eyed long haired colorpoint girl. The black cat was named Bones (by my brother who always called me bones as I was super skinny. My dad would call him bonehead when that happened) and her daughter was named Cotton. Well, one morning, my oldest brother came in and said that Bones had 5 kittens on his bed during the night. A little later, my other brother came in to say Cotton had 6 kittens on his bed that night too! Both mamas put all 11 kittens together to where we never knew which mom gave birth to which kitten. Pity the poor dog that came into our yard during this time! One poor dog was actually trying to climb a tree to get away from 2 very angry mamas who were attacking him with all claws!

We also always had a dog or two. At one point we had some chickens and rabbits. And with two older brothers, we had lizards, the kind that are only 2-3 inches long. (That in itself is another story concerning the cats,
)I think the most animals we had at one time was about 3 or 4 dogs, 11 kittens, besides the two mamas, we had Tarzan and 1 or 2 other cats. Needless to say, we were a cat loving, dog loving family!

I may have been 7 or 8 years old and my sister was about 5 or 6 when our parents gave us a pair of kittens. The little orange tiger was Fluff and the black tiger was Puff. They wouldn't allow us to keep them in the house and they were both killed by cars. We didn't have another cat until years later.

DH and I have shared our lives with cats pretty much our entire married life, I think. I still had Peanut Butter when I got married and when we passed, we probably went about two years without a kitty. And then Hydrox came along....the rest is history.

Gosh, I can't imagine a life with no cats!
