It could take a day or two. If you have vanilla, you can dabbing it on both of them - behind the ears, under the chin, at the base of the tail, and on the bum. It helps them smell similar, and confuses the smell.
This actually hasn't ever worked for us. It usually takes a couple of days.
As to the cone.... you only need to use it if she's going after the stitches. Are you in a position to keep an eye on her? In all the surgeries our cats have had, we only needed to use a cone once, and that was for Tuxedo. It was when he had surgery at a specialist and had an IV drip, and then was going to need a blood transfusion at the regular vet, so they left the.... "port" in and taped to his leg. But he was SO unhappy at the hospital and we knew enough about care they sent him home with us for the six or seven hours inbetween. He would NOT leave that thing alone, so we HAD to put the cone on him. It was horrible, he would not stop shaking his head and backing up.
Anyway.... licking at them a bit is normal, you just have to keep an eye to make sure they're not infected or swollen. If she is biting at them or obsessively licking at them, then she needs the baby onesie or the cone.

But as to Sooty hissing at her.... try the vanilla. If Flash is settled, you may just want to wait until tomorrow. I know it's heartbreaking... but they'll be back to normal right quick! It'll just feel like forever.
