October 4th, my birthday, it will be exactly 1 year since my beloved Spanelli and Houdini disappeared.

I'm still grieving, especially knowing it's been that long since I last held them in my arms, petted them, kissed their feet or heard them meow.

I don't remember what they sounded like anymore.. I still have Houdini's collar (I found it a few weeks after) but it doesn't smell like him anymore.

The cat tree is unused, still sitting where it has always been and I haven't cleaned it one single time..

Have any of you found a lost pet long after s/he went missing?

I'll never stop looking for them, until I know it has been long enough for them to live their natural lives.

They were brothers from the same litter, 100% indoor, never been outside their entire lives. They went outside once and never came back..

Keep up the faith! I found a cat after she had been gone for two years! She was sitting in the window of a house on the back road from us. I was walking her buddy (our German Shepherd Brandi) when I spotted her. I was amazed to see her- she was a TurkishVan-Siamese cross (quite distinctive). I knocked on the door and asked the woman where she got the cat? She told me she had the cat since it was a kitten! No way- so I told her it was my cat and I could prove it. I told her to bring the cat outside so she could see Brandi (they had been such great pals). The lady fudged for awhile, but finally let us into the entryway. Scatter came out, I called her with my special call- she saw me and Brandi and just went nuts! I took her home that day. The lady didn't have a leg to stand on.

So keep the faith- they do come home, they are found. Not all are lost.

My ex-sister in law found her dog 3 1/2 years after she was stolen (we think someone stole her to breed her). She had been hit by a car and taken to the shelter; my ex sister in law never stopped looking for her, and that week just had a feeling she would find her.... and sure enough she did! Sidney
was in bad shape, but now has been home safe and sound for quite and few years being spoiled rotten by her momma!
