Anyone have experience with them?

I am looking to make some healthier snacks...fruits and jerky as well as drying out my 400+ habanero peppers to make chili powder.

Same here.....we've been thinking about a hydrator for apples, tomato slices, peppers, etc. Not so much the jerky or anything, but mostly for fruits and vegetables. I'm curious, too.

I bought one today, an inexpensive brand. Its an Oster. I also bought the optional jerky maker so I can use ground beef to make jerky. My kids love jerky and I like it every so often.

Will let you know how it works out!

It does seem to have a long drying time. Think I will try tomatoes as well.

My next buy will be a vacuum seal contraption.

DH just bought one this summer and it does well. We take a ton of dried fruit with us camping, so we used to to stock up for that. It just takes some getting used to because the instructions on how long it takes to dehydrate certain things are a bit off. We've also made jerky and fruit/veggie leather in it. We currently have a tomato and zucchini leather in the kitchen that's really good.

I use my oven for drying fruit and making jerky, but my friend has a dehydrator, and she loves it, mainly because it doesn't take nearly on long as the oven, and she get fit more items in there!
