My Female in heat

My cat Rowan is in heat. She was separated from her kittebs about 2 weeks ago. Mammary glands are not full anymore but she went into heat early this past week, about 4-6 days ago. how long do you think it will be till I can get her spayed? I was hoping maybe this coming week but I dunno how long it might be. She seems to not show obvious signs of being in heat unless my dog is around (who grooms her constantly and seems to make her feel good) or we pet her in a certain way or around her rump. I know from previously working at a vet's, cat heats are/can be frequent and have very short in between periods where they aren't in heat, but I am not sure if I can catch her when she isn't through her behavior.

She can be spayed now as far as I know. Call the vet tomorrow and see if you can get her in ASAP.

Since I work right now where I got her tomorrow when I am in I'll ask if I can bring her in. (I work at a vet's) the only thing I don't want to happen is for her to hear her kittens who haven't gone to their homes yet and start lactating again. I dunno how that happens but I heard it was somtimes possible.

My vet said they can be spayed when the babies are 9 weeks old.

well the kittens are 8 weeks at least. so they will be spayed/neutered soon, as far as the mom though (who i have) hopefully I can get her done soon! the treading around the house and calling for a mate looks torturous for her when there isn't even any male around (though of course it is instinct for her) It is like dangling a carrot in front of a horse and it is jussstt outta reach :P torture hehe. poor cat.:P

well she is at the vets she should be all done by the time I go in for work tonight, I hope that she will still be "flirty" without all the female in heat nonsense after.

How is she doing? Did the spay go well?

Yea the spay went well. They microchipped her and didn't realize she already HAD one so she is microchipped twice but I will have to call the first place to update her info. since the previous owner's name will show up in the database. she pulled out her IV and splattered blood drops everywhere so I had to clean that up and she has been growling and did not want to go into her carrier to go home. she will head bump against me and rub against me though otherwise. She is a speedy little gal right now though so I am going to have a tough time confining her to her room when she needs any meds or food/h2o etc.

other than that everything went great!
