Our Garfield cat, Goldie, was hit by a car and DH found him dead on the sidewalk about a block from our home. I had been told by some of our neighbors that possibly Goldie had been killed. DH brought him home and buried him in our backyard.
Goldie showed up in our backyard a few years ago. He was fixed and had obviously had a good home at one time. He was very lovable, but no matter what DH did, Goldie would not stay home. He would sometimes return after 3 days away, but he would always come back when he was hungry. DH fed him yesterday and then, as usual, the call of the wild drew Goldie away. He always slept outside, even in the winter, and would not come indoors.
He frequently returned from his escapades with various cuts, which DH would treat for him. He was a super-feisty cat, befitting of his red fur. I'm sure he loved fighting other male cats.
DH never cries, but he is crying now. And so am I. RIP dear Goldie.
