Last night, I was lounging on the sofa and SFK was romping around on me.

When she nipped, I rolled her off the sofa. This, I realised as I was doing it, was a mistake. In the past I've only ever had adult cats, and they were fully agile. It still hasn't sunk in that SFK is a *kitten,* something so wildly different to a *cat.*

So now her rear left leg is hurt. I'm not sure where. At first she wasn't walking on it at all; now she's favouring it and grooming it some, but not limping as extremely.

I felt so bad, I let her hang out on my bed until I needed to sleep, then set her down to roam free. (Until now, I've shut her in the bathroom overnight and when I'm at work.)

Right now I don't feel fit to foster; I don't know what to do, as vets here are not an option. Without knowing what's wrong (xray!) I have no idea how to help her mend.

Strangely, she doesn't seem to resent me for the injury.

I am so sorry the little one is injured. I don't know what you mean by vet not being an option.

I can't tell you anything other than she should be seen to r/o a break somewhere.

I wish I could be of more assistance, but there is nothing I can say to help you make her heal.

These things happen.....don't beat yourself up.

Kitties are pretty resilent. If she is still limping, confine her in a small area with warm soft beds and all the comforts of home. Try to take things out of the room that would encourage her to jump and instead put in things that she can hide in- cardboard boxes, paper bags, etc.... She probably just needs to rest.

Thanks Farley & Hissy.

She's putting weight on that leg again, still walking strangely but then she always had a bit of sideways in her gait.

Accidents happen. When a pet is limping, I generally encourage rest and see if it improoves within a day or two before making a vet appt. Sometimes they hurt each other playing, or jumping around on furniture (Bastet often jumps on high things and misses!).

I've done worse.. when I was a kid, I had a calico cat.. she was hiding under an old recliner. I tried to lift up the chair so I could reach her, and somehow she ended up with a broken hip
. It somewhat healed on its own.. but she went up and down steps funny ever since then.

Ooooooohhh, nekkiddoglady -- that sounds scary and sad! Glad your calico kitty recovered well enough.

Last night I was carrying her outside to a fenced-in area, thinking we could sit on the grass for a little bit and she could run around in the fresh air. As soon as I got out the door, she yowled and jumped, landing on the pavement, then sort of shrieked in pain. This time, the right front paw. I scooped her up and brought her back inside. She's definitely a lot more pleasant when sitting quietly on the sofa than she is when she's playing crack-enhanced Jocelyn Wildenstein, so I wondered if this is like Munchausen by proxy or whatever that disorder is called where a guardian induces illness in a charge.

Within a few hours, she was again scampering about and putting weight on that paw. Still, this is crazy. Once I do move to a place where I can legally have cats, I'm not sure where I'll find a playmate in a compatible age/size.
