I need some mega TCS vibes if you guys can spare them. A little over a week and a half ago I woke up to stabbing, excruciating pains in my left lower abdomen. My dad rushed me to the doctor and then the doctor propmptly rushed me to the ER. 4 doses of dilaudid and one CT scan later the diagnosis came back Diverticulitis & Epiploic Appendagitis. They sent me home with pain meds, 2 incredably strong antibiotics and an appointment with my GI doctor. I saw my GI doctor the next day and he wanted to give the antibiotics a few days to work and see how things were. Fast foward to Wednesday and I was still in a lot of pain so I got a second opinion from another GI doctor in the same practice. He ordered a few more tests, took me off of the antibiotics (which gave me Thrush and put me on an antinflammatory instead to see if that approach helped). He said if I wasn't better by Friday (when I already had another appointment scheduled) to go in. Both GI doctors previously mentioned that a laproscopic surgery might be necessary to remove any dead tissue/etc. (Just pray if I need surgery done that they can do it laproscopically as the recovery time is much quicker than an abdominal incision.) Well I was still in a lot of pain this morning, so I went back to the GI doctor. He was concerned and promptly called a surgeon and they scheduled an appointment for me at 2:15 this afternoon. Neithor GI doctor knows why or what caused this and both recommened the exploratory surgery...so since I've had two opinions, I'm going to go ahead and see what the surgeon says this afternoon when I go in. I have no clue why my body is doing this or what is going on. All I know is that I'm sick, I'm frustrated, and I'm still in a lot of pain.

There's a huge chance I'm having surgery today or very, very soon. Please send some vibes this way.
I'm honestly not sure how much more I can handle right now. I JUST had all of that work done on my heart on the 16 of August...I'm not even fully recovered from that yet. Now, this pops up! All I want to do is finish school and graduate (I was supposed to graduate this month, but because of the heart surgery, that got pushed back a few months...now I might have to sit out even longer. I am beyond frustrated. I know my health comes before a degree...but I'm just frustrated). I just called my boyfriend Jack to make sure things were lined up for him to take care of the furbabies if need be, so at least I know they'll be in good hands. Please send some vibes that if they do the surgery, I recover quickly.

I am sorry to hear you are going through this. It seems things always happen all t once, at the most inconvenient of times! I truly hope the doctors get this straightened out, and you get better very soon!

Gosh, you need to stop this!! Right now! Be well!

That said, I am sending lots of vibes that they find out what the problem is and fix you up for good, and that you recover quickly!

Well, look at the bright side of this. This surgery, especially if laproscopic, will hurt a lot less than the pain you are already in now!
(all the GI related pain I've had over the years was so much worse than laproscopic surgery pain)

That it will be laproscopic and that you will be able to return home soon. As always, once home have the bf do the house work and lifting for a while. I'm sure you'll heal up quickly though, you're tough and fight this stuff.
I just hope it (pain meds) doesn't mess up the other GI issues you have already.

My dad took me to the surgeon's office a little while ago (I'm back at home now.). The surgeon wants to review the CT scan with the radiologist so that they can make a more firm diagnosis. He seemed like a really nice doctor, and I liked the fact that he wasn't "knife happy"- he's thorough and wants to make sure he does what's in my best interest from the way he talked. If it's Diverticulitis like the ER doctor origionally diagnosed me with in addition to a few other things, surgery could be potentially deadly, so he won't do it. The normal treatment is antibiotics (which I was already put on- they didn't help and now almost 2 weeks later, I'm still just as sick as I was origionally AND I have thrush from the antibiotics). If it's the Appendigitis, that gives him more leway to go in and laproscopically remove any dead/diseased tissue that's causing the pain if necessary. There is also the possibility of a ruptured ovarian cyst that was overlooked in addition to a few other things he named..I honestly have no clue.

The doctor said he would call me after the review the CT scans, so I should hear from them soon. He wanted to go over the CT results with the radiologist and make sure that they are both on the same page before he decides on surgery. If I need surgery, it will be later tonight or tomorrow when it's scheduled. At this point, it's up in the air. He also has to call my cardiologist as well since I just had all of the work done on my heart - I'm still on a monitor and everything and only one month out from that surgery, so they have to be careful. (my blood clot risk is pretty high, so I think they're just covering their bases.)

Thankyou everyone for the vibes and prayers; I can't tell you how much I appreciate them right now
It's been a tough few months, but I'm soo thankfull for good friends, family, furbabies, and the most supportive & amazing boyfriend a girl could ask for, Jack. I'm just soo ready for my body to heal up so I can finish school and get back to a more normal life! I was already starting to go a bit stir-crazy at home (I'm got soo used to doing school/clinicals full time in addition to training my dogs, that now I'm just sooo sick of being at home! I guess God's teaching me a lesson in patience!) I talked to the GI doctor this morning and the Surgeon this afternoon about school and they both said it was probably in my best interest to plan to go back for the January session vs. the session that starts the beginning of October because of my current health issues. They both stressed that my body needs time to heal, so I think I just need to be patient and listen - I was supposed to go on Monday morning to sign my paperwork for the October session, but I will have to wait and see what happens now...I most likely will have to wait it out a few more months. I'm trying to stay positive and look at the big picture- I guess another 10 week session isn't really the end of the world if it means that my health will be back to normal when I finally do go back to school. If anything had to happen, at least it's going on now while I still have health insurance for a few more months.

I'll keep you guys posted when I get an update.
I've already made arrangements with my family/Jack to make sure that my furbabies are cared for if I do in fact need surgery. Hopefully I won't need anything done though.
