cat trees? I want to get Pixie one as she likes to be up high and I am not sure about where to get one or what the best price would be for one. I don't think it would be a good idea to get a used one as I would be afraid a previous owner allowed their cat to mark on it and then she might do the same. And I get a Dr Fosters and Smith catalog as I have a subscription to Cat Fancy so they send me one and they have one that is 5 foot tall and 3 foot wide and has several spots to get on and its nearly $300 and I am not sure if that is a good price. She doesn't need one with the scratch surface because as I said before her former owners declawed her. This one has a nice carpet on it and it even has a mouse that hangs on it that she can smack at. I am hoping by giving her a cat tree she might not get on the kitchen counters. Dad found her on the counter today and he didn't say much because she wasn't getting into food but I am surprised he didn't say much. She just likes to be up high and he said she was just laying down. I also have concerns about the mouse because I don't allow my cats to play with string toys when they are not supervised are the strings on them short enough that she can't get hung on them if she is playing alone. Yes am a worry wort but she is my baby and I love her.

So anyway if you could tell me if that is a good deal or a better place to get one. I looked at walmart and the ones they have is only knee high and so a waist of money.

I got mine at Petsmart 12 years ago. It is 6.5 feet tall, has been through several cats, and has been moved at least 6 times. It is still just as stable as it was when I got it. I vacuum it occasionally and sprinkle some catnip on it, and they still love it.

I got one at PetSmart for a little over $100 and another at another petstore that was on sale, also for a little over $100. There is also a girl I work with whose husband makes them for $100, so I'm probably going to get him to make me a couple more.

I got mine off ebay through a guy who makes them and sells them in an online store (he'd sell them at ebay, too, starting off at $1 but they were hot commodities so they never sold for less than $100). He doesn't sell off ebay anymore, but he still sells off his website (www.catcondoheaven.com)

It's almost 3 years old now and still looks great. My dog uses that bottom section as a little cubby hole or den, and the sissel ropes act as a sort of brush, brushing out the dead hair whenever he goes in or out of his "den". I paid $155 but then another $80 or thereabouts for shipping and customs (it's 70lbs and was coming from America to Canada, lol). I've looked at trees at Petsmart and other stores and they all feel not-so-sturdy to me. They wobble, and I don't want a wobbly tree. The one I have is steady as a rock, as it should be being made entirely out of wood and carpet.
