I do, and it makes me sad.
Just this morning I am reading ads people posted last night...and I see

"We got her in Feb , her name is Princess and she is a very good cat. She is fixed and is up to date on worming and shots, her next Dr appt is Dec 2010. She is fixed but not declawed, she is about 2 we think. I will throw in food, litter, litter box, scoop, food dishes, toys and scratching post and pet carrier. We are getting rid of her because we got a dog and we can't have more than one animal. "

"We found a small kitten last night i am not a cat person but couldnt bare to see this cat wonder the street. Would like to give it away to a good home asap call 614 *** ****. if i get no responses in an hour i will take to the Humane society "

Also, because I look at it daily, I see the people who make up stories and change their stories when they have cats no one wants.
First I noticed a woman who posted her two cats. A 1 yr old , partially deaf and a 4 month old male. 1st post said the 1yr old male was free, as he was spraying, and spraying on her purse, clothes and even her child. She was sick of him so wanted him gone. Then, the next week posted both cats...no mention of the 1 yr old spraying or that he was partially deaf. The owner keeps posting new stories, ranging from no time to care for them, to no money to care for them, to them not being able to have pets any longer...

A couple weeks ago a woman posted two grey kittens, and was immediately called out. She had been given the kittens for free 2 days prior by someone who had the litter of kittens and was now trying to "re-home" the kittens for a 35 dollar fee, as she was supposedly not allowed to have kittens in her apartment and her landlord wanted them out immediately. Then after being called out, posted again that she was not the same girl and yeah she lives in the same neighborhood but isn't her and needs to find a home for these cats because she has to move unexpectedly and cant take the cats. Posts that as of sept 9 they "must go tonight"...then posts again on sept 11 that they must go and they got an extension from their landlord but they need to leave that night. AND again posting last night, that the kittens need to go because the woman is allergic to cats and can't be around them. I am glad this person has not yet taken the cats to the shelter where they will probably be put to sleep but it drives me crazy that people lie so much about their animals.

People are constantly giving up their animals because they got another one...or because they apparently can't have them, or they "find out their allergic"....I don't even know what to believe anymore with these animals. I just feel bad for these animals. Is everyones local craigslist pet page this crazy? I think I need to stop reading it!

Never ever do I read pet craigslist. I get upset enough with things I read in forums, that kind of misery I cannot add to my life. (I didn't read your post either, just the first line)

Me too. I can't do anything about the poor babies on Craigslist. I don't have room or money for more pets, so I stay away. No point in making myself mad!

I am wishing I never looked! I found Joey on craigslist. I have offered people advice on there before, including recommending this site to a couple people who posted about finding small kittens, or a couple people posting about cats behavior problems...but I got in the habit of reading other postings and I need to just quit. Its sad and makes me want to rush out and take in all these cats, which is not at all possible for me so I think its time to quit!

I read Kijiji, which is pretty much the same thing, and OH do I ever tell people off, or at the very least try to educate. It makes me so upset and jaded though that I really should know better.

I saw an ad on there yesterday that had me fuming!

"I have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female that have gone missing from Cheyne Settlement Road in Public Landing. The female was pregnant and has been missing for over a week now. The male has been missing for nearly a week. They are grey and black tiger stripped cats, the male has white on his feet. Their names are Mister and Missy. If you have seen them please call 217-0324. Thank you!

PS. There has been a fox hanging around this area so please watch out for your small pets!"

WELL HELLO! First of all you don't spay/neuter your pets, you know a fox has been around but you let them out anyway... I hope someone took them in and is providing a wonderful home for them, much better than this one!

Our local shelter is BEYOND full and currently not taking any surrenders. Because of this, SO many cats are being posted and given away online. It is HEARTBREAKING.

I try not to read the pet ads because I don't like to see them given away. Too many nuts. I say charge a price for any animal.
