Hello,
I just got a new cat, his name is Salem and he is a Bombay. I got him from a friend and he is 1 1/2 years old. He is very odd. He kind of acts like a dog. He will come up to you and push his head under your hand to pet him, he just flops down on his side like a dog- very ungracefull. Ha. Has anyone seen something like this, or do I have a freak of nature on my hands

my male red-point flops too, over he goes, THUD! Not graceful at all. My female DLH pushes my hand with her head when she wants to have her head stroked.

I have two "Ragdolls" they are known to be very laid back and floppy. They also do the head under your hand when they want attention.
I don't think this is uncommon for cats.

I always thought that cats were quiet, graceful, delicate creatures, until I got one. Now I found out that they stomp around, thunder up and down the stairs, and bash into things. And I love the kitty "whump" - when they flop down on their sides waiting to be patted. Both of mine do that, run ahead of me up the stairs, then whump over on one side to make me stop and rub them.

They are very dog like, that way. And it is never good enough to pat a cat with one hand, they push their head under the second hand, even if its busy doing something useful, like using a computer mouse.
