Casper is quite the handsome boy
.

Your new cat is absolutely beautiful. How old is he? He still looks to be a kitten. And, I must admit that he appears to be full of mischief! The picture of him playing with (I assume) you while you're on the computer is priceless -- you should definitely submit it for this month's photo contest. He's just a cutie all around. I'm going to look forward to seeing more of Casper as we go forward.

Thank you for sharing your new cat's pics with us. But, of course, you do realize that we're going to need more, right
?

Aww Casper is really cute! How old is he? I will second (or third, fourth?) the notion that he is going to be a handful/troublemaker!

What a small gosh darn world. You have a Casper, and so do I (look below). I must commend you on a great name. Them Caspers are pretty cool cats.

Hi Tiffany,
Casper is very cute indeed, Congratulations.
I do however have concerns that I have been debating since your last thread when he was found.

I remember, and will never forget your thread about Sadie.
Sadie was for a long time throwing up green, and with a bad cough, described by you as moaning and lethargic, and you couldn't take her to the vet due to financial struggles. At the time Saddie was 9.
When you did decided to take her to the vet, it was to get her declawed.

I have been watching this carefully, and do not want to be rude, so please excuse me... But with pet ownership comes great responsibility. It hurt my heart so badly to know how much your baby girl was suffering without treatment, and was going to suffer getting declawed, that I immediately remembered you when I read your name...

When a cat walks into our lives, even though it might appear to be a "free cat", just know that it is not the case. From the moment you become that cat's owner, it is your responsibility to care for him with appropriate food, shelter, time, and vet care. A cat can be very expensive - one of mine has cost me thousands in vet care, and I will will continue to pay for his doctors and meds until the day he has no quality of life, because that is what I promised him when I took him in. I do it while employed, and I did while unemployed, even when it meant I had to sell my things to get him to the vet.

So please, think long and hard about these things, and if there is a possibility you can not afford treatment for one of your animals in the future, please, I urge you to find him a loving home where he will be taken care of; this will also allow you to better take care of your current pets.

I don't know if your situation has changed, and I certainly hope so....

I also hope Sadie is doing better, has regular Senior vet care (as a 9yr old cat should), and you did NOT get her declawed.
Please do not declaw this one either.

Carolina,

Thank you for your concern. Tiff has a habit of sometimes making a mountain out of a mole hill. Sadie was not vomiting green. Sadie regurgitates her food when she overeats. She has a shortened trachea, probably as a result of some abuse in her past. I had Sadie to two different vets so as to get a second opinion on her problems. Sadie has received regular vet care. I told Tiff we were not going to continue to take her to the vet every time she regurgitated her food as it is obvious her problems are not things that can be remedied. She came from a very questionable home. In other words, we think it is quite possible that she was exposed to drugs which seems to have affected her neurologically. The shortened trachea causes her to not only regurgitate food, but causes her to make a variety of noises and a cough. Her lungs are clear, however. As to getting cats declawed-that is something that all cat owners should agree to disagree. I continue to have all of my cats declawed. I do understand that the ends of the front paws are basically amputated. However, all of my cats have recovered without any issues. As to the suggestion that Tiff find a loving home where Casper is taken care of-I understand you are concerned for the welfare of our cats. However, reading this I do take offense. First of all is the implication on your part that we do not care for our pets. I can assure you all four cats receive regular vet care and are routinely innoculated. They are healthy, happy and loved. Second of all you seem to think that finding good homes for strays is easily done. Believe me, it is not. There are so many strays and abandoned pets in our area (as I am sure there are elsewhere) that most people simply want to take them to the animal shelter. So I will end this post by letting you know that all of our cats are doing fine, including Sadie. Once again, thank you for your concern.

I am assuming you are Tiffani's mom, Pam.
Thank you for your reply. My suggestion was to re-home him IF, and only IF you do not have the financial means to care for the pets, what was apparent by reading what Tiffany was posting about Sadie's situation. I did not tell you to re-home him if you have the means to take care of him... That does not seem to be the case any longer, which is great.

About declawing, sorry, but we will will never agree on this IMHO unecessary, painful and cruel procedure.

In any case, I am glad Sadie is doing better...
