My kitten is 12 weeks old. Last Friday he just had his second round of shots. Does he need a third? I know he will need rabies at 16 weeks but does he need another combo shot??

TIA

It's usually two here and then the rabies shot. Call your vet and ask. That's one of the reason they have someone there answering the phone.

Most vets I have worked with recommend one more with the Rabies but every vet can be different.

We just finished this. Tumbles already had his first shot, then he got 2 more boosters and his rabies, so he's set for a year unless he gets sick in the next year. He'll have his snip in October. He's now about 18 weeks old.

Alot is to do with personal prefernce too. I had brought kittens to one vet when I knew nothing and they got shots at 6 9 12 16 and a rabies at 16 too. Both of those kittens died before 8 yo.

I was using a clinic that required shots(they got a 3 in one and rabies day of surgery and were supposed to go back for one booster but I never went back)
The youngest he took was 4 months old and he would alter any age.

I now use a clinic where its all optional so I don't get any shots. Have thought of doing a nasal "shot" at home but undecided cause so far the un vacced all are healthier then the other clinic cats.

Talk about risks with your vet and see how common disease is for your area

Presuming you mean the FVRCP vacs. Current Protocol indicates that the final round should be given after the age of 16 weeks.

16 weeks ?? Where did you get this info??

One vet I use does a 2 series ... 8 and 11 weeks then rabies at 16-20( one side of border is 20 weeks)

the other vet does the same but insists on a third shot if you start prior to 9 weeks
