Is she in love?

My cat has a strange behaviour.
She went on exploring the other night for the first time – she is two years old now – and didn’t come home when we called.
We thought we had lost her – but suddenly three days later she went inside the kitchen and meowed for food.
Now she goes restlessly around constantly trying to get out again.
Is it possible that she has a lover outside?

Cats aren't like humans. Though if you've been letting an unspay cat outside most likely she was off breeding and is now pregnant.

If she is not spayed it is likely she has been out mating and may be pregnant. Cats don't "love" like people do, if she is interested in a male cat it is simply for reproduction. Please do not let her out of the house again until she has been spayed.

No - not unless your cat is not spayed. Cat's don't "love" like we do. So I suspect either someone is keeping her in their house for a few days till she wants out, or if she is not spayed, she is being bred.

So if not spayed, then call the vet now and have her done immediately. IMO if you are gonna let the cat outside, do so under supervision:

1. Harness/leash and take her out in the yard.
2. Build or buy a sturdy cat enclosure where she can sit in safety.

By allowing her to roam free you are putting her at high risk for a lot of dangers and a short life.

One other thing - our neighborhood currently has an epidemic of stray cats. I live in a borough that is approximately one square mile. We are overrun by stray cats because they keep populating like rabbits. They spread fleas, ticks, worms, and feline leukemia, and probably other things not mentioned yet.

Please spay/neuter if not done already.

So glad she is back home where she is safe and loved. I would keep her inside so you don't really lose her to other people, cars, dogs, diseases, and other sad things.
