vet records, I don't have any copies of Pixie's vet records and I don't know who had her before my sister so how would I be able to show her records of being spayed. I don't even know when her shots are due. And they told me she was a siamese american bobtail but I honestly think she might be all american bobtail. the main reason they said siamese is the color and there are linx point american bobtails but her eyes are blue baby blue at that so maybe she is siamese too but she is not a vocal cat and I have never had a quiet siamese before. She only meows when she needs something or if I have been gone to work or something and she wants attention. I will be glad to get my batteries for my cam so I can get some pics posted but either way she is the most loving cat I have ever met. Tavia was sweet but she was more independant than Pixie only difference is Pixie doesn't always sleep with me and Tavia did but I had Tavia from the time that she was a small kitten.

Where did your sister get her? She must know where she came from. That is a problem.

I suppose a vet could shave her belly and look for a scar, but, gee I'd start with your sister.

I have no idea where she got her, and to her well she is just a cat she thought it was stupid that I wanted to get her a check up. I know she is spayed and she is declawed but past that I don't know and I know she is about a year -year and half old. And I was told she was an American Bobtail/ siamese well actually they said she was a long haired siamese american bobtail but I have never met a long haired siamese and american bobtails have medium long hair which she has. I can check with my vet and see what he says I don't want her to have to be shaved just to find a scar. I think the vet would just put it on her new records when I tell him that she is spayed and be done with it but I just like having records of stuff like that.

If you live in a small town you can call around to the vets to ask about her....but really that only works if you know the former owner's name, they can't exactly go through their records to find every single bobtail cat in there. It is possible they might remember her if she's unusual-looking. I did that with my dog after his last owner left him with me, with no info. I guess there aren't any patient confidentiality issues with vets!

If she's de-clawed she's probably spayed. There are some owners and vets who will de-claw an unaltered cat (for what reason I'll never know), but it's not common. And she probably would have gone into heat by now if unspayed.

Yeah, it's a pain not to have her records. But that's pretty much how it is when you take in a stray. It's a fair bet she's not up-to-date on shots.

Well my sister got her in another state and then when she got tired of her I took her in. She wasn't a stray but with the lack of info I have I am about as well off. I am her third owner that I know of and possibly her fourth one which is pretty sad since she is just a little over a year old. My sister told me she was spayed and so I guess the lady before her told her she was I just don't have the paper work on it which aggrivates me. With my previous cat she had that little droopy area on her tummy where she was spayed and Pixie doesn't have that so I just have to try and find out a bit more stuff. And I doubht her shots are upto date. I am going to wait till the end of the year so I know its been about a year since my sis got her that way I know I am not doing it too soon. But then I will get her on a schedule and get her set up with a regular vet. This poor cat has been so neglected, they fed her but just the cheapest food and they didn't love her the way they should have my sister kept her in her bedroom most of the time and what is so messed up she kept her food right beside her litter box and it was up against it I kept asking how would she like to eat in her bathroom and her response was always "its just a dumb cat" . But now she will get the love she needs she has already became my little shadow it took her a bit to know it was okay but now she stays beside me most of the time or she can be found on one of the spare beds in my niece's room or on one of the kitchen chairs resting and I don't plan on her ever needing another home unless we move somewhere. She has filled up that hole in my heart I had from when Tavia died.

You mean "spay sway" , more technically known as a fat pad? Not all cats have those, it has nothing to do with spaying or neutering. It's just fat that comes from a cat being well fed and cared for.

I'm confused a bit. Has Pixie even seen a vet yet?

I haven't taken her to a vet yet, as I have had her for a couple of weeks and I am still trying to get her info from my sis but the person who had her before my sister had her spayed and declawed I just don't have the records of it nor her shot records.

You don't have to have her records for her to go to the vet. It really makes no difference at the vet if they don't know. Typical vaccinations don't really change between clinics, just which manufacturer they use.

Those of us who take in adult cats can tell you, what matters is that you take the cat in. She could have something wrong with her that waiting could make her sick.

Don't worry about her past, just take her to a vet and start from scratch. After a complete exam the vet will give her the shots she needs and hopefully find nothing seriously wrong with her.

Don't wait for your sister to find any info on vet. Pixie really should be seen, just to be on the safe side. Your vet can examine her and give her anything he or she feels is necessary. And you'll feel better, knowing that your little girl is in good health.

Good luck to your little Pixie!
