Seti makes crystals. This is kind of a relief because sometimes he pees in strange places. He's very emotional and I've always attributed the urine to him being upset with one of our other cats as he's never shown signs of illness. In fact, he still doesn't have an infection but we ran a urinalysis anyway (it took two to find the crystals). I'm hoping that the treatment of the crystals may resolve the inappropriate peeing.

Hoping to both make him feel better (he was puny) and to stop the peeing around my house, I dashed to his vet to pick up his new diet C/D once his vet called me with the results. Seti can't eat the C/D. 15 minutes after eating it he vomits it all up and that's even with blending it with his old food and giving him time to adjust. Anything more than 1/2 a teaspoon causes him to vomit.

So, I called his vet back. We agreed it was something in the food that didn't settle with him. So, we tried UR, same idea, different manufacturer. Same result. 15 minutes after eating a scant bit of it he vomited. I'm going to let him eat his old, regular food (Wellness Indoor) for the next two meals and try again just in case it's that his system is upset but considering that we've had the same results with it as with the C/D I don't have high hopes.

There's one other type of food made by Royal Canin that my vet mentioned but that we haven't tried. I'm sure that will be up next but do you think I can expect different results? I know we won't know until we try but I'm worried about Seti. He was so miserable in and out of his box which, for the moment, is stopped but for how long if he's eating his old food? The food that's "good for him" isn't so good if he's going to vomit it all up.

He's got a great vet, one of the best in all the South East so I'm confident that he'll find a solution for Seti that keeps him healthy and happy but I'm worried about my little guy in the short term and just needed to share with people who'll understand.

There is a ph supplement that can be added to food to help with crystals if he cannot keep other foods down. Your vet may be able to suggest a brand and dosage if it comes to that.

Thanks, it's good to know there are other options. I hate when my little guy is unwell. On the upside, he is feeling better and back to his old self.

Good to know he's feeling a bit better. It's worrisome when you can tell they feel really bad and won't eat or can't keep food down.

I hope you can find a food that does work with him, as it would be the better solution. I'm sure your vet will help you figure this out.

for Seti.

Prayer and vibes going out to Seti. Poor little guy. I know that with you and your vet on his side he will be better soon.

My vet put Beeba on a urine acidifier pill for a bit while he was on the c/d. Is the c/d wet or dry? Beeb would not touch the c/d wet, so we went to dry. Not the best, but he is crystal free.

I know how discouraging this is.....I was very discouraged. Keep the faith. Sending many thoughts and

There are quite a few prescription choices, don't give up hope yet. A male cat forming crystals has got to be on a special diet. Wellness, in my opinion is one of the worst foods for cats with FLUTD.

I put Mazy on Wellness in an effort to get her on a canned diet since she won't eat the canned c/d. Within 6 weeks her urine was full of struvite and phosphorous. She is back on the c/d kibble for life

Royal Canin SO is worth a try. There are cans, kibble or pouches. I think Eukanbana has a prescription line too, but I'm not positive.

Good luck with Seti. You'll find the right food, don't despair.

I'm feeling better today. So far, we've only tried the wet. We're going to try the most recent food one more time later today after he's had a chance to get some food on his tummy and let it return to normal. If that doesn't work I'm going to call his vet back. I may ask about trying the dry food and see what happens with that and what his vet recommends for him. We'll get it I know but I was up every time he meowed last night fearing he'd blocked. He didn't, he was pestering Kit so he feels well enough to be aggravating. I guess that's a good sign. It's normal at any rate.
