Invisible Being?

Thread Starter
Does anyone else notice that their cat acts as if there is some invisible presence? Once in a while my cat starts being scared of certain places, or just acts a little weird about some things. This morning my cat seemed to be playing with an invisible cat, and meowing strangely. Usually he just is terrified of the places that he usually sleeps. Just wondering if anyone else notices this!

Oh yes. One of our cats seems to chase invisible prey all the time!

I could be tiny flying insects, that we don't see easily. The first time i saw crazy invisible prey behavior it was my GF cats. She was leaping and swatting and pouncing. Then I saw this tiny little 'noseeum'

Despite my nearsightedness I usually notice whatever they're watching - I pick up on movement really well. Whether it be a fruit fly, tiny moth, fur, or even some sort of lint floating around. It really messes with people when I do that and go over and grab whatever was floating or flying around.

Maia sees things that she draws my attention to, like bugs or something outside............but I think I see things she doesn't more often

I absolutely believe that my babies can see things that I can not. Azizi seems to be especially prone to this.

Absolutely our cats can see things we cannot.

Do your cats ever play "Make Mom look at the ceiling"? Mine do. I'll walk out the hallway into the living room and, as one, all six cats will look up and stare at the ceiling. Now I know very well that there's nothing at all on the ceiling and I tell them so. "There's nothing there! I'm not looking!"

They'll all look at me and then, they'll all stare back at the ceiling. "Stop it! Stop it right now! There's nothing there! And I'm not looking!"

Back at me, back at the ceiling.

"Fine!" I'll look up at the ceiling. And then they'll go to sleep or start washing.

It's a game! And I always lose!

They also like to play "Make Mom look out the hallway". Usually when DH is out of town and I'm alone at night. We'll all be in bed and I'm watching tv. As one, they all look at the bedroom doorway. "Aw, c'mon! Stop it! There's nothing there!"

They'll look at me. Then they'll all look at the bedroom doorway. "Guys, stop! There's nothing there! I'm not playing!"

Look at me. Look at the bedroom doorway. And, of course, you know what happens. I get out of bed and peer out through the bedroom doorway into the hallway.

And as one, they all go to sleep. (And I swear they're laughing.)

And now, they've even taught Mollipop how to play those games!

So there's only couple of us that truly believe and will see the stuff they're watching? I suppose it's just the season. Each year around this time everyone suddenly thinks their house is haunted and that their cats are seeing ghosts.

As for the cats fooling one into thinking there's something there. Act like there is someday. Pretend to follow something closely and even get up acting like you're going to catch it. Every single cat in my house falls for it - though probably because I usually catch moths for them.

I've usually been able to pick out what it is when it at first looked like they were playing with something invisible. One of my cats will play with shadows and reflections so at first it looks like she's playing with nothing-- sometimes she's start looking up at something 'invisible' and following it with her eyes (or pouncing at it), and when I look closer or change position, I realize it's a reflection from the cover of the book I was reading or something like that.
I've also seen them batting at or licking at a piece of dust or fur in the air, so at first it looked like there was nothing there until the sunlight hit it right!

Lazlo communicates with aliens for sure. From a very young age he'd stare up at the ceiling and meow. Usually at like 4:00am. Nothing up there. Got out the ladder once to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

We decided he's communicating with the mother ship and that HE is an alien.
