Pretty much the rule in my house--and even if it's not flat.
LOL that sounds like my cats. They love to lay on things there not supposed too.
Same with my gang!
Banshee had a rule about me reading a book: No reading, Mom! I'd flop on the couch with my book. She would jump on the couch, walk up on me, and stick her head right below the book and then squeeze her way up to me. If I lowered my book, she would then walk right over top the book! No reading! None! (And that went for newspapers and magazines, too.)

Pixie loves sitting on things she isn't supposed to she tries to use my laptop as a pillow
