..Oh that's right, it's the middle of September already. We'll shop when we can get people to actually tell us what they'd like since most of them are difficult. Only my father is simple because I know him so well and he'll speak up.
Pretty well! I have a few items for DH that I picked up at the mall or ordered online for him; he knows that he is to stay out of the closet in the computer room. We have some gifts for my parents. A few things for our DIL. We're getting there.
The most difficult is for our grandchildren. Our DIL usually doesn't email their wish list out until after Thanksgiving, so we have to wait for that.
We'll start shopping in earnest around the beginning of October.
Really need to buy just for mom, dad, sister, bil, brother. husbands side is not talking to us still.
We won't exchange gifts for eachother or it will be a make this my gift sorta deal...first birthday together I got a visa prepaid gift card
so hes cool about that if it come down to it.
My moms quite sick and has anything and everything shed ever need so shes a hard one. In general I give cash/gift card to store I am SURE they can use. And Ill probably not see them till few days after so I can grab them on way lmao...
Not even thinking about it yet. I don't buy for many and what I do buy is from HSN or QVC, no shopping malls and crowds for me, those days are over. Now I just order what I want, sit back and wait for it to get here. Sometimes if the person does not live close by, I have it sent to them directly, no muss, no fuss.
We go on holiday next week and when we come back I am starting some serious shopping, we have rather alot of people to buy for and it gets more expensive every year. x
Seriously, I don't do much Christmas shopping. We only exchange with DH's Mom, Dad & brother (and the 2 nieces, if they are in town--they don't get anyone gifts, but, if the controlling Mom and step-dad let them visit my BIL when we have our annual dinner in early December, they come to it, so we give them gifts then). I give out about 4 small gifts to co-workers. DH & I set a dollar limit, and then go online (eBay) to buy each other stuff. In fact, that's our Thanksgiving morning tradition. Since it's only DH & I (his family live 3 hours away, and always have to work), I curl up with the pc while the turkey is roasting, and shop!
We do, however, play "Dirty Bingo" with DH's family when they come down for the (early) Christmas luncheon/dinner I make, so I have to by gag gifts for that, so I guess that's sort of Christmas shopping. This year's theme is awful books. I get the ideas from a blog about awful library books, then buy them really cheap on Amazon. The Sex Lives of Animals Without Backbones will be a GREAT hit, I'm sure! As a consolation prize, I'll put some paper money in each book. (The gifts are pre-wrapped by me, so nobody knows what the prizes are, which is part of the fun--they fight over the wrappings--for example, a large box--which may only have a tiny gift in it.)
You've probably noticed the absence of my family in all of this. They haven't spoken to me since Christmas 2005, so needless to say, we don't exchange cards or gifts, nor have dinner with them.
I will be going to the US soon, so everyone's Christmas present is my visit!!
Plans: I guess for the kids in my life (none of my own), I will just get something online shipped directly to them. For DH, something electronic. For the cats: something yummy!
