On Saturday, my sister, BIL, and niece were here for dinner. They're here often and they know how we treat our furkids, how often they're fed, how I'm constantly scooping litter boxes, how we step around the cats when they're sprawled out on the floor or on the stairs, how our living room usually looks like it's been hit by a hurricane because of all the cat toys and pillows. My sister loves the cats' kitty couch and all the baskets and napping places. They come into the house, sit down, and their laps are immediately taken by a cat or two...or sometimes three. (It's OK; they're cat people, too.) We often say that our house is decorated in Early Ameri-Cat.

Anyway, the other night, I was giving the furkids their supper and the cats were all milling about and I had to side-step tails and paws. My niece looked at me and said, "You know, you go above and beyond for your cats! All the toys, all the pillows, all the food, all the love and attention....you go above and beyond!" And then she gave me a big hug.

It was one of the nicest things anybody has ever said to me!

That was really a nice thing to hear and I do agree with her having seen it with my own eyes. It's great when people notice.

Having said that, don't all or most of us go above and beyond caring for our kits. I bet just about everybody here does.

We all love our kits and they should be treated with love and kindness and yes going above and beyond is something that should be pretty common.

Better than my family- whose attitude is, "When are you getting rid of the cats?"

When you adore these little critter, like we all do, going above and beyond is our joy to do, isn't it. It was a very kind thing to say and wonderful that she noticed it.

My family says the same thing but in different words, they say "aren't you going a little overboard with that cat". I answer back "what's your point"

That was the sweetest story I have heard in a long time! I wasn't expecting such a beautiful ending, unconditional love from another for giving and receiving unconditional love with their kitties
. Honestly I was expecting something bad to have happened, and thats sad.........I was wrong, thank you for sharing

What a lovely thing to say! That's so nice that they not only don't criticize you, but actually understand.
Honestly I was expecting an ending more like this ad!

OMGosh, that's a hoot! I didn't expect that ending!

It really is nice to have an honest compliment about the way we take care of our cats. There was really no criticism at all. My niece just looked at me and said that. Out of the clear blue. And I thought it was a wonderful thing to say.

DH's parents always buy a little something for our cats at Christmas. Even if it's just a bag of treats for each cat, it means so much to us. They get it, too; they understand.

That's a wonderful compliment!

When we went to adopt Nero, the girl at the shelter ran a "background check" on us by calling our vet. Our vet told them that we were some of the best care takers of our kitties that they have, it was great to hear

Aww how sweet, glad to see some kids are still kind. My niece loves cats and so does my nephew. I wish everyone in my family loved them as much as we all do but I guess I can just love mine that much more.
