Hi all,

well Darkmavis's thread about her lemon tree inspired me, so much so I bought a seedling off ebay, infact the seller sent me two, my mother in law has even bought one
I think its competition time
I think it will be a while before it looks like this though:

Awww...lemon tree kittens! Let us know how they grow.

I'd love a lemon tree but it is much too cold here.

Hey, congrats! I think that is so cool that you have a lemon tree now! Two lemon trees! Best of luck for growing some lemons!! I'm sure in no time it will be as big as mine:

Well, maybe not 'no time', probably more like a few decades I'm guessing. But good things come to those who wait! By the way, do you know if it's a Meyer Lemon or Eureka Lemon tree? Mine is Eureka, apparently the 'true' lemon, they're more tart, Meyers are a bit sweeter. So I've been told... All I know is I hardly ever have to pick them, I just take ones that drop from the trees, and I just made lemonade today and I still have 7 lemons in the fridge. And one of the lemons I cut open had a bunch of seedlings inside again!

No idea, just bought them as lemon tree seedling
I suppose I will find out if I ever get a lemon off it, they're nice and snug in my kitchen ready for winter. I am dreaming of lemonade

It will be years before it reaches that size! Also, if they grew it from seeds, it may never fruit. Citrus usually needs to be grafted to produce fruit. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but I know quite a bit about growing citrus indoors. I bought 4 plants earlier this year (2 Meyer Improved Lemon, 1 Calamondin orange, 1 Key Lime) from eBay; I killed all but the lime--not the seller's fault--she sent beautiful, in-flower 3-4 ft. tall trees. My cats were urinating in the pots; I couldn't tell until I saw Gemma digging and squatting in the pots, and the trees started dying! Also, they are very tempermental to grow indoors. They may shed all of the leaves, but keep trying to gorw it--Meyer Lemon often comes back. I planted my lime outdoors, and it got some new leaves, but I'll need to dig it up before frost, and bring it indoors (and invent a cat-proof shiled to put around the base of the tree!).

You must have 6-8 hours of sunlight a day, and be careful not to over-water them.

I can pm you the eBay seller's name, if you are interested (she's in the U.S.--not sure if she ships overseas--but she was wonderful to deal with, and her plants were gorgeous, and very well packed.)
