I have a new ward...she a young tiger striped cat. she wandered into my neighbors garage, and i was called to the rescue. ive got her in my bathroom to keep her contained to see if shes litter trained or not. i think someone dropped her off, she is extremely affectionate and just wants pet constantly, but is also a lil scared. at this point in time, i cannot keep her. i have 3 cats and 2 dogs in my house as it is...

Thank you for rescuing this kitty! I'd get her to a vet for a check-up and to be treated with Revolution for fleas/ticks/internal parasites. You may want to spend the money for FIV/FeLV testing, as this will help you place her - whether with a rescue group or in a new home.

I'd also consider getting her spayed if she's not already. If you can't afford it, I'd look into low-cost clinics you may be able to get to. Most orgs are already stretched, so the more work you've put into making her ready to go to a new home, the more likely they are to help. And if you end up having to try to adopt her out yourself, that'll make it a lot easier too.

Her being scared is natural. She's obviously been someone's pet - somewhere along the line. In fact, you may want to have her scanned for a micro chip, and if she doesn't have one, put up posters around the neighborhood to see if anyone's missing a kitty.

In the meantime, I'd start looking to see if there's a foster network or someone that can take her. A good way to do this is to go to http://www.petfinder.com, and search for shelters in your area.

I'd hope you foster her while looking for a home if you can't find a rescue group to take her - and I definitely wouldn't hand her over to a shelter that would kill her when they run out of room!

well, little kitty is litter trained. i just got home from work to find no messes, only in the litter box. she greeted me at my door, so its obvious this cat was a pet. if she stays here too much longer im going to end up attached...

my funds are limited at the moment. one of my 3 cats is an unfixed male. i cant mix him an her together or he'll start spraying. i wont have the money to get him fixed until next month. im goin to call the vet i use tomorrow and see if they cant maybe work me a deal for her...

Both girls are very pretty!

The kitten being very affecionate doesnt not necessary means she is super-social. It is surely in part a (succesful) try to please herself in.

Many cats do have this ability.
Compare with the cats behaviour when it is almost time for getting something extra to eat. At this time they too usually got extra cuddleable....

More than the spraying....she's old enough to get pregnant. So be sure to keep them FAR away from each other. Have you contacted all the rescue organizations in your area to ask about low-cost spay/neuter options?

Have you conducted an email campaign, finding shelters and foster networks through Petfinder? Have you put together an "I need a home" brochure with tear-off tabs (with your contact info)? We post those everywhere - most supermarkets and many shops around here have bulletin boards (travel with tape and tacks!). Ask EVERYONE - people you work with or go to school with, the check out lady, people standing in line wherever you're shopping....

Most of us rescue and are at are limit already. I don't know anyone in Eastern OH area.

Ask a friend to foster her for a few days and see if you can find a place for her. I hope you can find her a home
