Whiskers

I don't know what he got into, but Lennon got into something. He is missing whiskers on one side of his face, and the spot where one should be looks like it was bleeding. Several other whiskers are incredibly short. Any idea what he might have done?

Also, how exactly should the boys er...look...post neuter? One of them is hardly noticeable, while the other has two very obvious "cut" spots, that look like they might have oozed before. Should I do anything to make sure they are clean? I don't like having two of them to compare...makes it more nerve racking!

The vet advised me to use H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) for both Ginger's awful neck wound, as well as a diluted dab on a q-tip or cotton ball for the Boys when they were clipped. If in doubt, just a dab may make you feel better. Betadine or Iodine may also be used to clean, but I've always been told to wash that off, not to let them lick it.

Both reactions sound pretty normal, as long as there is no opening of the cuts, or bleeding. Every kitty reacts a little differently. Hope this helps.

Thank you! It does make me feel a lot better- and I will wash it off when I get home (on the way to hospital with the fiance).

I swear Nuts spent at least half of his first year missing half his whiskers or them being really short. I think it's a boy thing they find trouble and end up losing their whiskers in the process.
