please help!

I have a little kitten and she is about 11-13wks old i think she has ear mites cause she always is shaking her head and lays her ears down flat and wants me to rub them they itch her as well. I have some vetscription ear mite & tick treatment but im scared cause i have no instruction and i don't want to hurt her i cannot afford to take her to the vet until i take her to get her spayed? Any advice will be greatly apprieciated thanx

You might post this either in Cat Health or Kitten Care - I"m sure someone who's had experience will be along - but, if you got the medicine from the vet, the staff should be happy to explain on the phone or in person (without another charge) how to put the medicine in her ears.

If you got something from the store, please don't use over the counter treatment on your kitten until you've talked with the vet...some of the non-prescription stuff can really hurt a kitty.

Several of the new prescription topical flea medications also take care of ear mites.

Revolution is the one that comes to mind.
