Help!! What to do with an under-aged, orphaned kitten!?

Hi!

So long story short, an abandoned kitten is being dropped over at our place tonight! We are previous cat owners and lovers, but are told that this kitty is extremely young and small... and we don't know what to do!

No one knows the history of this kitten, besides the fact that he OR she (we don't know that, either!! :P) is a stray and was attracted to the smell of the woman's other cats. It could be any age, but seems to be in good health at the moment.

We have a bed and food and blankets and toys, but we don't know what or how we're going to feed it if (s)he is indeed too small for wet food!

If anyone has any tips on how to keep this kitten alive and get him/her as strong as possible, please tell!! I'll give you more details once (s)he arrives in about an hour.

Thanks!!

There are many threads here on how to bottle-raise kittens, if you need to do that. With any luck, it's old enough to eat and take care of itself. Do you currently have cats? If so, you should probably keep them separate for a while.

In any case, it's a good idea to put a new kitten in a small room where it can feel safe, with food, water, and a litter box. That will minimize your chance for "accidents," and give the kitten time to learn where the litter box is.

Feel free to ask any questions. We have some real experts here (not me!).

an useful site is www.kitten-rescue.com

it is for rescued and or found small kittens, but uselful in some parts also for medium big kittens...

If she got attracted by smells of other cats, so my guess would be she cant be very small...

I agree with the advice to keep her in some small place at first - many rescuers use the bathroom.

She feels safer. But you will also feel safer. Even if you dont have own animals at this moment.
If from outside, she almost surely has fleas and prob also worms.

You dont want to have the fleas all around your place...

So keep her in one place till she is deparasitated successfully.

Keep us updated!

Tx a lot for helping, and good luck!

ps: Welcome to the Forums!
