Cotton could use some vibes...

My big buddy got diagnosed with diabetes a few weeks ago and we're having one heck of a time getting his blood sugar under control...as in we're having absolutely no luck whatsoever so far...now he's doing what he always does when he's not feeling well, which is barely eat...so if anyone could spare some good vibes for my big boy - that his blood sugar starts to come down and that his appetite starts to pick up, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you everyone.
So far we've had a little munching...and have booked a vet appointment first thing tomorrow to talk about switching him to a different insulin and maybe getting an appetite stimulant to get him over the rough patch. I'm off to see if I can convince him to at least finish his dinner tonight.

I wish you the best. I had two at once. We have a hard time regulating Megan but she seems to be doing O.K. now. I hope they get Cotton's under control soon, too!

Well...we tried assist feeding tonight and I did get an entire 3oz can into him before he seemed full, so I'll call it a tentative success. Not that he was entirely happy about the process, but he didn't fight me too much and it's more food than we've gotten him to eat since yesterday morning, so I'm figuring he'll forgive me eventually.

With any luck, he'll be willing to eat normally tomorrow just to avoid having me stick my fingers in his mouth.

TONS of vibes coming from my way too hun!

Having had a diabetic little man also I know what you're going through. I hope his blood sugar stabilizes. I had to inject him twice a day with insulin, but with time he got better. Your little guy will too

Thanks again, everyone. You guys are awesome.

We're waiting to hear back on his x-ray results today, then we'll likely get a new insulin for him. Turns out my big buy has managed to cut his mouth a bit...meaning he'll avoid food until it doesn't hurt - of course add the un-regulated diabetes into the mix and we have an infection.

So we have antibiotics for now and hopefully a new insulin soon. I've heard it's not uncommon for the first insulin you try not to work, so I'm trying not to worry too much.

He slept with me all last night and even took a few bites from his bowl this morning, so I'm hoping things will get better soon.

Just a quick update:

Cotton's x-rays cam back clear of any tumors, which I was too afraid to mention in my previous post for fear that if I said it, it would happen. He does, however, have bronchitis, which is not likely to help the whole eating issue. So I'm still assist feeding him a bit and encouraging him to try eating on his own. We have one more week on his current insulin, since they suspect that the not eating and bronchitis has messed with his numbers, so the vet doesn't want to base a change decision on them.

So that's where we are. Thank you to everyone who's been sending us vibes and good thoughts. I really appreciate it (and I'm sure Cotton does too)
