What on earth made him spray?

Milo totally shocked me today. I needed to spend several hours on my old computer, deleting files ans saving and transferring stuff. So I was really immersed in it at my desk when up jumps Milo, walks over the keyboard, turns around and very deliberately sprays (not squatting) right over the keyboard and my hands! Then he jumped down and strolled out of the room.

Was he annoyed at me for spending so long there? Was he, in some weird way, marking it - he never has before? I really don't think he has any health issues. All I can say is, thank goodness it was not on my new laptop - that would have been a disaster. As it was, I wiped it as clean as I could and it seems to be working all right. I should finish tomorrow and then the old one can go to the computer room in the sky.

Did you miss a meal or a major daytime routine? Have you noticed if he sprayed anywhere else?

As for the old pc. New ones break down (depending on the laptop brand, pretty quickly), so I suggest you don't throw your spare computer away. If you do, run a wiping utility(rewrights 0s and 1s) over that hard drive 3-6 times so nothing can be recovered from it. Deleting will mean that anyone can go in and find those files - including password keyrings. Reformatting is simple to recover data from, too. (you do have a business, correct? so this is important)

No, all meals etc were served as usual! He hasn;t done it anywhere else.

And thanks for the computer comments - I shall keep the hard drive - I always do.

I suppose he was just miffed at you then. If he does it again, maybe you can pin down the cause but I think it was just from you not being where you were supposed to be (according to Milo).

And good! Data recovery is relatively easy and a quick way for people to make money stealing information. I'd hate for you to have that happen to you.
I saw a lot of used pc's being sold at garage sales today and was tempted to tell people just how easy it would be for me to get their personal information.

Could he have smelled an outside cat spray or in heat? That may have triggered it though he obviously was trying to get your attention as well. No signs of UTI I trust? Not quite the same but Hemmy once peed on me when he was sick with a UTI.

We keep our old computer parts too. Wouldn't know what to do without a box full of spares! We build computers so those parts come in handy when our or a friend's PC crashes.
