Hi all,
I have a 1.5 year old named Charlie. We decided he needed a friend and adopted a five month old kitten, Eva. We had had cats in the house before that Charlie got along with and since we live in a small one bedroom apartment (and therefore its not easy to keep two cats separated), we did not do a very slow introduction. It has been a month and Charlie grooms Eva all the time and they often sleep together. However, during his "crazy" hours, he can get aggressive towards her. He will try to get her to chase him, and when she doesn't respond, he seems to get frustrated and will attack her from behind, biting her neck and kicking her. She will hiss and hide under the bed or coffee table. After a couple of minutes she comes out and does not seem to be afraid of him. In general, we separate them and try to give them their own play time, but I am concerned since he is twice her size and will hurt her. I am also puzzled because he will be affectionate towards her, but then overly aggressive towards her.
Please note that they are both spayed/neutered. I appreciate an advice you may have.
