My cat's ear...

Hi, I'm new here...

The other day I noticed my cat, Oliver, has some fur missing on the back of his right ear, along with the top layer of skin that the hair grows out of. A small spot mind you. Like it's scaling off. Anyone heard of this?

I did do some checking on-line but...I'm just not sure what it is. He is taking medication for an eye problem, one that he had back in April that got better after a while. There is blood in his eye, actually in his eye. At first we thought it was a scratch that we just couldn't see or maybe an ulcer. His vet said it was an ulcer and gave us both an ointment and eye drops. They did the trick the first time, we're hoping they'll do the trick this time too.

He doesn't see too well at the moment (specially at night) because of the blood in his eye, that and the cataracts - that I believe he only has on one eye, yes, his right eye. His other eye looks clear, even reflects light.

Would these things (meds, eye problem) have anything to do with what's going on with his ear? He's an older cat btw.

could be ringworm... also, my Pixel gets little sores [mostly facial/ear area] due to her herpes when she's having a flare. but those are definitely sores - scabby, bloody when the scab comes off, etc.... altho she does also lose fur in those areas.

Maybe your vet would be the best one to answer that question Simply from your description it sounds more like ringworm but I am not a vet and couldn't tell you. What sort of ointment did they give you for the ulcer back then? Am I correct in understanding that this spot is in the same exact spot as the last time? Sounds like maybe something isn't healing right, perhaps he should see the vet again to be safe.

He never had the spot before, this is new. And he will see the vet again. Oh, and the ointment is called NEO-POLY-DEX.
