Auction to help Jacky (mews2much) with funeral and vet costs for Coco

Hi,

This is me, Carolina, making a plea, not Jacky... I have followed Coco's story for a long time, and Jacky's love and incessant fight to give her every chance she could at life...
As you probably know by now, Coco sadly lost her battle today to CRF, high blood pressure, anemia, blood clots, and a number of other health problems she developed later. She was much much loved for her 18.5+ years of life.

The reason for my post is that she also left a huge vet bill, and also the cemetery bill now.

I am not here asking for donations, although you can do that by going to Jacky's blog and clicking on her paypal button.

I am here to invite you all to a cool event us bloggers are are doing to help her out - We are doing an Auction, this Sunday, on the Cat Blogosphere.

All the information will be there on that date, and again, this is not a plea for donations - you will be bidding on very neat items, jewelry, crafts, pictures, and all sorts of things for a very low price, and ALL THE MONEY will go straight to Jacky (Not all profit, but rather all the money). Usually there is someone who will match the auction amount, so there is a big chance she will end up with double of the $$.

I am not sure yet what Items will be there just yet because this will be an emergency auction, but I have bought pearl earrings for $10, and the coolest Silver ring for $15 (Awesome ring, just beautiful!)... All the while I knew I was helping a meowmy in desperate need....

If you'd like to participate on this great event, please log into the Cat Blogosphere this Sunday for details!

Thank you all so much......

Jacky's vet's information can be found on the blog for verification or you can PM me.

From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Yes... Iknow.... thanks for checking... There was an auction for a sick kitten that just ended at midnight and they are working hard to put Jacky's up. As soon as it's up I will update this thread - it will be later today or tomorrow am. Hopefully later today!!

How about now? I keep checking but I don't know where to look. Educate me and I will stop harassing you.

What sort of things are usually auctioned, and where do they come from. Is it something one could donate items to be auctions for?

Just wait and I will post as soon as it goes on... It looks like it will go on tonight at midnight.

Ok, as far as the items and where they come from:
There is a group of people that organize these auctions. These people, buy and donate items from their own pockets.
There is also one lady that makes blankets to sell to cat blogging members from the blogosphere. All the $$$ from the sale of these blankets (these blankets are for cats), will go to cats in needs, or to buy items for these auctions, for example.

The items include everything - cute household items, little antiques, jewelry, crafts, collectibles, cat toys, really all sorts of things... I really love the blankets and the jewelry... This time there was a funny item - a Nikon binoculars that was worth $150, sold for $25

There is a lady that puts a lot of $$$ into it, mostly out of her pocket, buying items and them putting them on auctions. She is the lady who runs the blogosphere.

Members of the blogosphere (cat bloggers) are also invited to donate items, than in the end they go ahead and ship the item to the winning bid.

I really can't wait to get it started..... sorry that it is late! But I will post the address with the info!

Oh, it is very easy to bid too - you just put the item #, the amount and your email address at the comment box

I wanna check it out too. I can't wait AND it's for a great cause!!!

I am on the same boat as of you guys..... only I know it is coming.... but IT IS taking long
But look: http://furriendsofcb.blogspot.com/

You can read on the Auction page: "Keep watching, we are about to start a quick auction to help with sweet Coco's final expenses. By then Gracie should be back and we will return to our scheduled auctions."

Here is a couple of things that happened that probably delayed things: ML, the Blogosphere organizer and the force behind the auctions took a cat she recently adopted to the vet yesterday only to find out it had FIV, FeLV, and had to be PTS.... She was crushed.

Gracie, the one that runs the auctions, lost her Grandma a few days ago.

(both things are in the blogosphere - ML kitty was called 007)

I am sure these two things delayed Jacky's auction.... So so sorry you guys... This never happened before, but death doesn't choose time to happen

It will be up soon, and I will post... promise promise promise

And thank you so so so much for keeping checking and "harassing" me - it means more than you can possibly imagine!

I know... It is really quite sad in so many levels... Sad for Jacky, whose Coco was intended to be alive for this auction... Sad for ML, and sad for Gracie... But in the end, I guess sad things do bring people together... So, there is some goodness coming out of it!

Yes, you can definitely donate to the vet, just say it is towards jacky's/Coco's bill...
I will make sure to update this thread though, so it will be hard to miss it!
Thank you again

No news?

The Auction will happen soon.
ML is depressed and upset right now because she tried to save a cat and he had to be pts.
She is telling me the auction will be in a few days.
Thanks to everyone that cared about Coco.

The good news is....... I hear a lot of people donated items in Coco's memory, and it should be an exciting and big auction worth waiting for!

Ok, something seems to be wrong, because there is no #16 in the actual items shown with pictures, and there is no hairy blanket shown either. #18 is supposed to be the hairy blanket, but it's showing up as the hair tool!

I'd like to bid on the hairy blanket, but am afraid to bid on #18, because I don't need a hair tool.

I guess we can continue to bid all the way through next Friday, and up our bids as the days progress? I've never done anything like this before.

Hum.... I definitely see # 16... the set of cards... Addibee even bid on it (thank you )#17 is the hair tool, #18 is the Hairy Blankie.... Probably going to be this one:

Kitties looooove these hand made blankies! I am not 100% sure about the color yet that's why there is no picture yet...
Even though I bough it and donated it for the auction, I will be bidding on it too... I always wanted one of those blankies, and because they are handmade, they don't come by too often

Why can't you post a comment? Foreign members who win bids have to pay for shipping (the cheapest way available, of course...). The person who is donating the item will tell you how much after the auction is over

OK, Carolina - when I bid this morning, #17 was the notecards. Now it's #16? I noticed there was no #16 when I went to the site... and I thought it was strange. I don't want or need the hair tool either... sorry... not girly enough for it and I have very short hair.

Yours definitely say notecards - but I will forward your comment to ML.

When I bid, I said #17 and put "notecards" in parentheses, just to be sure!

I sure do like that blankie, too!! I think my boys might fight over it!
