Anyone remember Cleo, my little foster girl from last year at this time? She showed up in my feral colony around mid-Aug. in '09 and I was planning to get her spayed ASAP. Right after Labor Day, one of the neighbors who puts out food found Cleo collasped on her front porch. We rushed Cleo to the vet, who did a battery of tests and determined the poor little girl (who was about 5-6 months old at the time) had parasites in her liver. She was so sick and underweight, the vet initially recommended having Cleo PTS, but then decided to try a blood transfusion. It literally saved Cleo's life. It took several weeks of meds and lots of rest, but she gained weight and transformed into a very loving, playful kitten. She was ultimately adopted by a family member of the neighbors who found her.

Had a chance to visit with Cleo today and she's the picture of health, absolutely beautiful and very much loved by her family. Here's Cleo, one year later:

Thanks, everybody.

Happy endings like Cleo's are what makes doing rescue so rewarding. There were so many involved in her rescue/care care, that it makes it even more meaningful.

I don't "remember" Cleo because I was busy with some other stuff around this time last year and wasn't on the site then. But... she is beautiful! And her story warms my heart! Yay for Cleo!

I don't remember Cleo or her story, but it's stories like this one that make me proud to be a human being rather than ashamed. Cleo is an absolutely stunning "plain" brown tabby and she looks so happy, relaxed, and loved. Thank goodness you and so many others were there for Cleo from her rocky beginning to her new start at life. What a lucky girl, beautiful, special girl.

I've read a lot about the kitties you have worked with and I am always in awe of what you do. I wish I had the time or space to foster right now, but I have in the past and know what dedication, love, and patience it takes. You truly are an angel to cats and kittens everywhere. I think Cleo is proof positive of that. Thank you for all you do. And, thank for for sharing the beauty of rescuing, fostering, and adopting pets. "Plain" brown tabbies or pit bulls, all pets deserve a loving, safe home. I'm so glad that Cleo found hers.

For some reason, this made me cry. But, they're good tears. Thank you for all you do
. God bless!
