I everyone I am new here just joined today. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the Chicken soup for the kitten lovers soul food was?

I have had my kitten on this since I've had her and she really seems to enjoy it although I just happened to see a label on the bag saying " not recognized as an essential nutrient by the AAFCO Cat food nutruent profile" it got me wondering if this is a good food choice. My kitten Viva is going on 7 months old.

I also feed her the friskies wet food as my boyfriend took her over to his parents and grandoa decided to introduce her to it and now she wont eat unless she has that mixed with her food. Is this healthy ?

Thanks everyone in advance

The not recognized bit is basically there because some brands exceed or add extra things in that are good for cats. The current trend is to add pre and probiotics to foods. These are extras. Another is food exceeding the minimum level of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. There's something else that gets added to kitten food... that off the top of my head I can't remember.

Chicken soup is a decent food. The friskies is rather rough, though. She may have some problems with that, like gas or stinky stool, because of all the fillers.

Welcome

Did she ever have wet food before? If not, you could introduce her to other, better quality canned foods. Feeding canned food is much healthier for your kitty! I feed dry in the morning and canned in the evening

(I've never tried Chicken Soup, but others on the forum have. I feed NV Prairie)
