I've gone through this once already this pregnancy!! Luckily, I really noticed the pain last night, and my weekly appointment is this morning. I hope this doesn't cause problems if I go into labor soon. Man, it hurts. Every time I fill up my lung I get this terrible pain in my middle of the right side of my back. I think it was my right side the last time too.

There's a few things you can do to help try to prevent them, so make sure you ask your doctor.

I've had a kidney infection before and it was horrible. I thought I'd put my back out and it wasn't until I was curled up in the fetal position on the ground shivering in the middle of summer that I realised it was something more

Anyway, I sympathize, especially to have one while pregnant :-( Hope they can sort it out soon.

Kidney infections are terrible pain. I think I remember your last one. Let us know what your doc says.

I have a bladder infection. Which I guess it what it was last time, but for some reason it always makes my kidneys really hurt.

OMG, horrible day.

My doc was checking the baby's heart beat with the doppler. She found it and it was 160, then she lost it, when she found it again it was 130. So she wanted me to be monitored because she was worried about decelleration (?). So I was hooked to their monitor for like 30 minutes. She came in and said his heart rate and activity looked great, but there were spots where the heart rate dropped off, and it could be because he was moving around. But she wanted me to go to labor and delivery to use their monitor. I was just really freaked out, I was thinking, this is not the way this was supposed to go at all. My legs aren't shaved. I haven't given my sister a key to the house yet. So many things. I was fighting tears the whole time we were at my doctor.

So, we go to the hospital. I'm really freaked, I have to change into a gown and get in a hospital bed!! I wasn't expecting that at all. About thirty minutes on their monitor and they tell me his HR looks perfect.

So I had to tell, like fifty people my medical history today. My medication allergies included. I guess Dr. Hague told her resident at the hospital I needed a prescription for my bladder infection. So they gave me a prescription and I drop it off, go return my movies, go to Target to get a few last minutes things. I'm starving, I'm exhausted, my back hurts so bad from my cervix check (made me crampy) and from my kidneys. I go pick up my prescription, the pharmacist asks if I have any allergies and I tell her what I've told fifty people that day. Penicillin and celcore. And the antibiotic I'm prescribed contains penicillin. I was like "Are you kidding me? I told fifty different people today I'm allergic to penicillin and ceclore. SOMEONE SHOULD KNOW!" (didn't yell at them, it wasn't their fault, I was laughing.)

So I have to wait for her to page the stupid doctor. I waited for like, an hour.

Good news is I'm 80% effaced! Just 1 cm dilated though. I took some tylenol, had a cuddle with my Abbey, took and nap and woke up to my husband's sweet face. So I'm doing much better now.

Glad to read the update!!! My kidneys and bladder are my weak spot; I use marshmallow root capsules & blueberries (fresh/frozen) to help prevent and relieve infections. I have to be careful with antibiotics, since I'm allergic to most & need to save the remaining brands for emergencies such as in case of surgery or trauma.
Sending you mega prayers and vibes for an easy birth

The last time I had a kidney infection, I took ura ursi and it was gone in 4 days. Of course, I had to drink water like a fish and felt like I was going to float away, but it really worked! Not sure I'd recommend it if you're pregnant or nursing though.

Thankfully your pretty far along. I got a severe bladder infection when I was pregnant and only about 4 mths along and it sent me into preterm labor. It sucked so bad I suffered thru atleast one bladder infection a month and I couldnt take the pills they would hook me up for 2 days on IV antibiotics...grrrr

for you and baby that this heals up and you feel better

Oh as an after thought....Did they do an ultrasound to check to see if the baby possibly had ahold of the cord??

Both my daughters came out (via c-section) holding onto the cord which if I remember correctly was the reason their heartrates dropped. With my youngest they actually had to cut the cord on the top and bottom of her fist and then pry her fingers open because she wouldnt let go haha. Shes a tenacious little booger even 6 years later.

Oh, no...no ultrasound. His heart rate wasn't really dropping. He kept moving away from the monitor thing at my OB's. They wanted to send me to the Labor and Delivery where they have a stronger monitor, to make sure that's what it was and it wasn't his heart rate dropping. And at the hospital they didn't lose it once.

I hope I keep these antibiotics down. I started puking last night (hopefully labor is near and it wasn't from the bladder infection), I hope I can eat enough that the antibiotics don't mess with my stomach.
