I really didn't mean to do it. Really! I wouldn't do this to another person!

When I have an empty litter bucket laying around I'll put all the gathered litter in that instead of in a garbage bag for pick up, as I'm sure most of you do. Sometimes when the Litter Locker bag runs out I'll just use small garbage bags to collect the litter scoopings, tie them up, hold my nose
and collect those bags in the litter bucket for the week. That only works with the big Tidy Cats buckets that have the convenient flip top since it's big enough to hold it all and I don't have to actually take the whole top off to add to it.

That's what I did this week. With an extra day for Labor Day. It was getting plenty ripe by last night when I topped it off and put it outside for trash collection.

Usually the trash is picked up by ~8:30 - 9:00. Today they are running really late - it still wasn't gone when I came back to work from a late lunch at ~2:00. However, the recycling pickup, ~11:00 - 12:00 was right on time...and they picked up the litter bucket.

Oh man, I feel so bad. I know the recycling is gone through by hand because we don't have to sort anything, just throw it in a bin. Someone is going to get a really bad surprise when they go to dump that litter bucket expecting papers or magazines.

I'll definitely label the litter buckets with a Sharpie as Trash from here on out.

Ewwwwww! I used to do that with my scoopings before I changed to the TidyCats Breeze. And it does get really ripe. Poor whoever it is!

All I can say is this: I go through 2 of those buckets a week with waste. I'm envious that you have only one.

Who needs a Litter Locker when you have an empty litter container?

Oh yeah, and I'm also envious that you actually have recycling pick up at your curb. I have to drive mine 8 miles to the closest recycling center.

Hmm, I never thought about using those big tidy cat containers to collect bags of kitty poop when the Litter Locker is full.

Good point Amy! I was actually thinking about getting a scale just to see how much poop we toss a day.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I reuse my Tidy Cats containers also. I scoop the ickies into doubled up Weis bags and then put them outside into the litter container till dumping day (we have a designated spot for litter dumping since it doesnt burn) and then burn the bags with garbage...Yup I gotta cut the tops off the bag and just dump the litter and waste and then put the bags back into the container and then wash it out. I actually bought a ski mask and swimming nose plugs for this job because its once a week I go and dump so its pretty foul by the time I dump litter. Ugh I wish we had garbage pick up where I live but we dont because our area is in a garbage burning zone so everyone burns what they can and recycles the glass and metal.

I can't tell you how many times that happened to us. I even put it under trash and the recycling crew would take it. We just received notice we are NOT to refill containers or boxes even with recycling or trash. That drives me bonkers b/c the trash bags barely hold 10lbs of dirty litter and then they expect only 8 bags of trash per household.

I feel for you! Trash burning was made illegal in my state about a year ago. I celebrated let me tell you. It's absolute heaven to be able to hang my laundry out again.

Trash pick up is available here, but I take my trash and recyclables to the dump, it's free for me that way. (covered by property taxes, which are paid by my landlord
)

Our trash service won't touch anything that isn't in the official containers.

Since we've now have curb side recycling and compost collection, there isn't much in the trash container besides the cat poop and litter. Though there have been a couple of times where I wasn't paying attention and put the poop bag in the recycling. Fortunately, I caught myself so I didn't spoil a batch of recycling.
