Jackie - from abused cat to Rainbow Bridge Angel

I had to send Jackie over RB this afternoon. Her kidney damage from being abandoned without food & water for 2 weeks got worse; she had some kind of neurological incident this weekend that left her incontinent; she was in pain. Poor girl - her original owner dies and she's put into the shelter only to be adopted into a dysfunctional family with a son who torments her for years. When I finally got her, she was a shell of a cat who lived in underneath a bedroom closet, and was mute and terrified - she would only come out to eat and drink in the still of night. When she finally trusted me to come out & get petted, she meowed incessantly, as if all the miaows that had been suppressed for years began spilling out. She had been declawed, and forced to use coarse litter Despite all this, she was incredibly gentle and sweet...
this past summer, my grandson and his friend made it their goal to lavish Jackie with love and attention until she began to roam freely around the house and actually socialized with the other cats.
Jackie - you will never know fear again. My graveside prayers are still active in my heart - that your guardian angel is holding and loving you now and you are getting the Good Reward that you so valiantly earned. And I hope that when my time comes to pass, you will remember me and come to greet me. Goodnight, little girl.......... Susan, who really loved you

Play happily over the Rainbow Bridge, Jackie

Your life may not have been what it should've been always, but you knew love, a kind touch & a warm home with family who loved you

Bless you and your family for taking such good care of this cat. It sounds as if she had a tough life, but she ended her days in greener pastures. RIP, Jackie.

Rest in peace little kitty. You are loved and missed.

Because of you, she knew love. Those that hurt her will get theirs. If I didn't believe that I wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning.

What a heartbreaking story. The poor baby

If anything good came from this, it's the fact that in the end Jackie knew what love was with you and your family

Have fun at the bridge sweet girl

You were her guardian angel on earth...and you passed her to another. No greater love than that.

God bless you and Jackie. You will see her again.

So True. I am so sorry she's gone, but so glad she had you and your family in her final days. She will never know pain again.

Thank you all for your comforting thoughts and words. It helps more than you can know. I haven't even tossed out her bed and dishes yet. I have been avoiding the room where she spent the majority of her time. Poor baby - this world was a hard place for her and I wish that I could have given her more time, more attention, to make up for it. Now it is up to the angels

I am so sorry that you lost your baby after working so hard to make sure she know what is it was like to be loved and cared for. I too agree that people who abuse animals will get what they deserve in the end. It takes a special person to work through issues that can arise from abuse so thank you for taking care of Jackie and making her time here special. You were her guardian angel and I am sure she will always remember that.
