I had to send Jackie over RB this afternoon. Her kidney damage from being abandoned without food & water for 2 weeks got worse; she had some kind of neurological incident this weekend that left her incontinent; she was in pain. Poor girl - her original owner dies and she's put into the shelter only to be adopted into a dysfunctional family with a son who torments her for years. When I finally got her, she was a shell of a cat who lived in underneath a bedroom closet, and was mute and terrified - she would only come out to eat and drink in the still of night. When she finally trusted me to come out & get petted, she meowed incessantly, as if all the miaows that had been suppressed for years began spilling out. She had been declawed, and forced to use coarse litter
Despite all this, she was incredibly gentle and sweet...
this past summer, my grandson and his friend made it their goal to lavish Jackie with love and attention until she began to roam freely around the house and actually socialized with the other cats.
Jackie - you will never know fear again. My graveside prayers are still active in my heart - that your guardian angel is holding and loving you now and you are getting the Good Reward that you so valiantly earned. And I hope that when my time comes to pass, you will remember me and come to greet me. Goodnight, little girl.......... Susan, who really loved you
