Baby Kittens Given to me..

Ok so the vet calls me back a couple months ago with a baby kitten who was 2-3 weeks old and needed bottle fed and taken care of. I said ok and picked him up. He was teeny tiny, and still had his umbillical cord attached and didn't open his eyes for 2 weeks. I would say he was only a day or two old. I am now a proud momma to him, I couldn't find him a home, he is my baby! But this lady calls me last week saying the vet gave her my number that she "found" 5 baby kittens and the momma never came back to take care of them and she works and can't feed them properly. So she brings them two me. Two were so tiny and dehydrated they died within 12 hours. I even force fed them and they were just too far gone.
The other three are little heathens! But they are super cute, but they weren't doing so well when I first got them. They were never stimulated the correct way to go to the bathroom, and when I did two of them had blood coming out of their rectoms. I freaked out, I've never had that happen before and one was going downhill fast. Very lathargic and couldn't even sit up and stopped eating. Then I seen a TUN of worms come out of their rectoms. The vet gave me dewormer and antibiotics for them, and they have gotten so much better thanks in large part for pedialyte! It brought the sick one right out of it in about two hours.
This is only my second time hand raiseing babies, and this is def. the most difficult. I know I did the best for the one's that didn't make it, but it just makes me so upset. I had a long discussion with the lady that brought them to me. She had found the babies and touched them, and scared the mother away. I told her NEVER to do that again. These babies would have been better off with their momma and probably all would have lived. They have started biting my fingers which never happened with my Bean, he never did anything like that. I don't know all of them do it, I don't know if its because there trying to play and don't know how or because of cutting teeth. But god does it hurt!! I think its about time to start putting them on semi hard food, like taking hard food and letting it soak in milk and see if they will lap it or something. I am not sure of their age tho. and because of them being dehydrated and malnurished, I don't know if it affected them in a bad way. Their ears are open, but their teeth are barely coming in. And is it possible for one to have brain damage? I think one of them does because it stares out into space all the time, and just has this weird look on its face.. I don't know, just totally gives me the willies the way it looks around. Two of them are really active and one is really lazy and sleeps almost 24/7 and the lazy one is the biggest one that was the best off when I got them. Any information or advice would be greatly appriciated! I am still new at nursing babies, but I get such an accomplished feeling when I do it! I'll post a picture of them!

I am in a similiar boat. I took on 5 orphaned babies a week ago Monday. A woman found them on her deck and said there was no momma around. All five are doing well, and are actually about 4 weeks old now, but were very malnourished-the smallest just 7 oz, the biggest as of yesterday at about 14 oz. They have been eating formula 5 meals and for the past almost 3 days, of the 5 meals getting 2 with canned food mixed with formula-at the same temp I would feed formula. All seem to be doing well, and putting on weight every day, I keep a chart and weigh them at the same time each day.

Thus far my vet says its too early to know if the malnourished ones will be affected by it long term. They seem to play like the others but may have some delays.

This is my first time hand raising babies, I did take in a stray pregnant momma last year and she did a great job motherly 5 babies.

I've never had to hand-raise kittens, and this is more for your future refernce than anything, but you may find this site helpful: http://www.kitten-rescue.com

You may also want to read through threads in the Pregnant Cats & Kitten Care forum: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Thank you for taking these babies!

And I'm sure someone with experience will be along to help.
