Here... or There... Hmmm
Ok, so to those of you who know me, I've been MIA for a while now. But I'm trying to get to spend some more time here again! I've had some rough times since about April when I started having problems with my back. It ended up turning into sciatica, where I couldn't even lift my right leg. Had to go to the medi-center, get put on a Steroid, follow up with my Dr, get a shot in the butt, get this pill and that, then X-rays, Physical Therapy, an MRI, and then they wanted to send me to a pain clinic for Pain Injections. In order for my insurance to cover the pain injections I had to take a 6 week class and have to lose 10% of my body weight. I finished the class, been losing weight (which is REALLY hard to do with all the pain) but I keep working at it. So they said I could FINALLY go to my first appointment at the pain clinic and now I have to have an EMG done to rule out right LS radiculopathy. (which I don't know what the heck that means) But he did say that I am a good canidate for the pain injections. So yay! I wish I could have gotten in for the injections sooner, I have been hurting the last two days quite a bit! But, you know, I'm doing what I can. I just am SOOO ready for this pain to go away and to get back into a normal routine pain free!

But, enough of that! I wanted to get back in here, and hang out again, and get to see every one's kittys and bring some smiling to my face again!

Update on Kitters. She is just as cute as ever! She still has her daddy wrapped around her paw. She has kinda started getting a little testy with some people I think in her older age, (she's going to be 11 thursday) either that, or she just likes the new house so much she's telling everyone it's her territory!
She used to LOVE my DH's mom, up until she had a heart attack about 3 months ago. Now she hisses at her. (Kitters not the MIL!
) But, she's still the sweet girl to me and DH all the time, so, it's ok!

And the best news of all......

I get to be in SS this year again!!!

So, that's it in a nutshell, sooo....

Hi, I'm back!!!!!

Nope, I won't forget the llamas!! How could I? There may even be a few gnomes making their way to my SS's house too! Not that I've been shopping for SS at all yet!
(just since last Christmas!)

Thanks Kailie, I'm hoping so too!

Welcome back!

I've been mostly MIA myself. Moved cross country in May and now me and the boys are staying in a room at my brother's house until we get back on our feet (paws).

I've joined SS too, so maybe I'll get the lucky llama this year!

I'm just glad things are atleast moving in the right direction as far as getting able to get some help with my medical insurance.

I LOVE shopping for SS. I was worried I had almost missed it this year.

Hey Jill!!! Welcome back!

I know how you feel with the back pain. I've been suffering with severe back pain for many years, but finally sought treatment about 3 years ago. I've had facet blocks (steroid injections) done 3 times. The first set of three brought me a full year of complete relief of pain. The second set brought me absolutely no pain relief at all. The third set, which I had last March, gave me some pain relief, but not nearly as much as the first set did. I really need to have a posterior lumbar spinal fusion with instrumentation, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to do my job (surgical assistant) anymore...I'd be worried about the lifting/bending that my job requires.

Has your doctor or PT ever suggested a TENS/NMES unit? I have one (Empi brand) and my mother has one (RS medical brand) and it does help with pain relief. I use mine every day at work. Most insurance companies will cover them. It might be something to look into....especially if you're like me, and don't want to use/can't use narcotics for pain control.

Secret Santa llamas and gnomes must still be in the off-season hibernation mode.....haven't seen any around for a while. Of course, once you've seen one....they start coming out of the woodwork.....so keep your eyes peeled!
