Hey everybody, I had a question all summer my cat was on z/d and would only urinate once a day, usually he would wait to go right up until it was almost 24 hours since he had gone last. He is off z/d dry now and on wellness dry and all of a sudden he is going twice a day now. Do you think this is a problem? We took him off the z/d because he was throwing up and seemed very lethargic but now he's better but could there be a kidney problem?

My cats pee two or three times a day. I would have been more worried about the one time a day. Holding it is not good for them.

Is there any straining? How large are the pees?

Hey Otto, I was worried about the one time a day too but my vet didnt seem to think it was a problem because he wasn't straining. I'm so glad he's going twice a day now it seems more normal! Otto I should pay you for all the help you've given me, thank so much!!!!

I'm glad to be of help. I have received help in forums when in dire need, so I know what a difference it can make to get a bit of support. TCS is a great place with lots of knowledgeable members, and while I do have a lot of experience with certain kitty issues, I've learned a lot from other members too, in my years here.

PS I tried to send you a PM but your box was full, so I sent you a visitor message, I was a little confused about something, can you check your profile.

Why was he put on z/d ? Diarrhea or a bowel issue ? If that was the case, he could have been losing fluids through dehydration.

otto you're going to think I'm crazy but Paulie is actaully a femal cat, we wanted a boy but fell in love with her so everyone exect our vet thinks shes a boy, I know it's weird but we liked the name Palmer even though now we call her Paulie, sorry to confusse you.

elayman Paulie was put on z/d because of a possible food allergy

I thought Pualie was female, but in this thread you are calling her a him, so I was confused.

The stools may be soft from the food change, she hasn't been on the Wellness very long, right? Do you have long hair? She could have ingested one of your hairs.

As long as she is pooping and peeing and eating, I would not call this an emergency. Any vomiting?

Thanks Otto, Sorry to confuse you, the thread I wrote was also an e-mail for the vet so she is the only one who knows she's a she. I do have long hair so he could have gotten a piece of that for sure. Yesterday I was so happy because his stools looked so good (tootsie roll) and they haven't been like that in so long but now they looked terrible again. Why do you think he urinated again, that's what I'm worried about because last spring he had a block from somthing and he urinated 2 or 3 times in an hour so I'm worried there's more stuck in there? He hasn't thrown up yet so that's good.
