...AMAZING!!!
I think my first day at my new job was the best first day I've ever had. Not only is this position the starting point to achieving my dream of one day becoming a veterinarian, but I love what I'm doing. And, the environment is wonderful as well. It's hard not to be grateful when I feel so blessed!
I worked from 11:00am to 5:00pm today. It's the first time I've worked since March and, even before that, I missed quite a bit of work due to a number of illnesses and injuries. So, it was definitely a feat to make it through the day. But, I did and, while there were a few lulls, I was mostly unaware of the time. I was just enjoying myself! Today was my training day and because the person I'm taking over for had her last day today, it looks like I'll be on my own tomorrow when I work from noon to 5:00pm. But, the vet techs were awesome and the vets informative and willing to offer assistance and I know I'll be okay. Sure, I'm a bit nervous, but in a good kind of way.
I learned so much today that I think my head may burst due to the information overload. I thought the job would be much more grunt work and a lot less hands-on with the pets and with the labs, but I was wrong. While cleaning is a part of my job, I also get to participate a lot with the vet techs, the vets, the clients, and the pets. So, my dream job is actually even better than I imagined! I can't even list everything I learned (and I'm sure I'll need refreshers as I go along), but it was such a fabulous experience. And, I think I'm still having trouble believing that I'm getting to live my dream. It's awe-inspiring to me.
I don't want to write much more tonight as I'm tired and would just like to veg for a bit before bed, but I wanted to say that I don't think I could've done it (or, maybe I could have, but not as easily) without TCS and the members here. You've been with me through good and bad and that's helped boost my confidence and allay my fears. And, you've taught me more than I could ever have learned on my own. My goal is to give back in the vet clinic. I love dogs just as much as cats, but cats are often misunderstood or seen as "less than." My clinic appreciates all things feline, but I feel like, thanks to TCS, I have a lot to offer. Not only to the pets, but to their owners. After all, I'm just a cat owner too (or, rather, cat slave
). So, thank you.
Thanks again to everyone. I so appreciate you all! I'm excited about this new opportunity and I am embracing it as best I can. Not everyone gets a chance, especially in this economy, and I want to not only make this one count, but I want to have joy in my work. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and everything it has to offer. And, believe me, I'll be back to share it all with you.
