First off, I got a new baby tonight

A freaking steal on Craigslist for $100! So excited! Its not green apple, but I dont care! So now I am trying to decide what to bake first! I plan on going to Kroger to get some baking stuff tonight though lol!
But I also got a new job in July but it has A LOT of down time! I mean A LOT! So I am going to start a new cooking blog! But I cannot for the life of me come up with a catchy, creative name! Any suggestions?

During this downtime I have also taken up embroidery. I am teaching myself from tutorials online. So far I really enjoy it, but I have mostly been playing around with stitches and getting better! But I still wanted to share!

First attempt

2nd one. Mostly playing with bigger stitches and satin stitches

and then this one I love!
Thats all!
I just wanted to share!

I cant decide what to make! LOL! Im all alone tonight so that makes it harder!

Thank you! My grandmother showed me a little when I was in grade school, but I dont remember it! I am using a sharpie for the outline right now just so I can clearly see it! But probably going to switch to transfer pencil asap! Just gotta buy one first lol!

Wow
what a deal on the mixer!

I never bake but for some reason I have always wanted one of those. Maybe it's because when I see them on cooking shows it looks like they are magically doing the work for you.

Fortunately the price has kept me from buying it. The truth is I know that I would use it once a year at the most.

Good job on the embroidery! Very good for a self taught beginner.

But you need to use something that will wash out to mark the pattern with. I have not done it in ages but when I did the craft stores had iron on patterns. Some came with instructions.

You could also get transfer paper to make your own iron on patterns.

I have gone through 5 hand mixers over the course of learning to bake! LOL!
I have the iron on transfers! I just wanted to use the sharpie to learn with basically! It helped me see closer how I was doing on staying in the lines and so I wouldnt have to squint too much!
But now I am going to switch over!

What a great mixer. I am always so happy for people when they can get something really nice. Your handwork is beautiful too. Keep up the good work. I used to do a lot of that and give it as gifts.

I have a Kitchen Aid just like that! Same colour too!

You are going to absolutely love it!!! I use it for all kinds of things....kneading dough, mixing ground meat, cake batters, whipped toppings, muffins, cakes, banana breads etc. Best investment in kitchen appliance that I've ever made. You got it for an excellent price!!

Love your embroidery! I've tried doing it myself but while I can do the outline, I can't fill in. I just don't know the secret to getting a nice finish when filling in large areas.

When my daughter and I started doing wedding cakes, we each bought a Kitchen Aid mixer. It is a work horse.

With winter coming I get the baking bug. In fact last night I spent the evening reading cookbooks!

Really nice stitch work. There are tons of sites online. I have used a few to help me learn blanket stitch that I use on my wool felt pieces.

It's good to see people still doing the crafts that have been around for many years.

Nice work!

I am planning on taking a few cake decorating courses. I would LOVE to open my own bakery in the future, but I have never really had anything to do with decorating! I think every cake I have ever baked has turned into a cake ball and not been actually iced.

Over the river and through the woods...
I think I'm in love with your mixer!
If it goes missing, I didn't do it..
. I'm using my mom's old mixer which is around 50 yrs old (the ones with the porcelin bowls that you can't buy replacements for so you have to be VERY careful that you don't break them). It still works great so I can't justify buying a new one yet, but they just look so cool!

Your embroidery is great too. I never really got into that although mom tried her best to teach me. Have you tried counted cross-stitch? Now that, I love! I may have to get back into that since I have a lot of down time at work as well.

thank you all! I have to adjust the mixer a bit today. The mixer is sitting a little low, but thats okay! I LOVE making cheesecakes and cheap hand held mixers are no match for a thick cream cheese!!! Thats how I always burn them out! The woman I bought it off of said it was her FiancÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]'s grandfather's that he had used maybe twice and when they combined households they had two! So its a bit older (was bought in 98) but I cant even tell its been used!!
The Beau is very excited to get the meat grinder attachment! Its a present to both of us!

And thank you for all your kind words on the embroider! I have tried sewing some and a little cross stitch but Im not very good at it! I get really distracted if its the counting kind! LOL! But I did find a very very adorable set of patterns that I may have to use for a certain set of gifts I will be sending

You will love, love love that KA! Congratulations on such a great find!

I've had a KA Classic (Cobalt Blue....called "Baby Blue") now for years and years and it's never let me down. Last year for Christmas, DH gave me the Professional 6-quart KA (in red....called "Big Red"). I love them both for different reasons.

You simply cannot go wrong with a KA mixer!

Your embroidery is beautiful....I wish I had the patience to do such work.
