I am in an (online) philosophy class this semester. A question was recently asked...

What are some important beliefs in your life?

--

This is my response with a few bits of humor... keep in mind... a lot of subjects were already addressed (like the existence or lack thereof of God in your life)... this is what is "left over"...

---

9.\tWhat are other important beliefs in your life?
I believe I should not kill animals for consumption (I am a vegetarian/borderline vegan). I believe kindness gets you further than hatred. I believe education should be a right for all. I believe my utility bill is too high. I believe pet owners should be responsible if they take on such a duty (spaying/neutering, shots, etc). I believe time management is imperative to success and asking for help when appropriate is advisable. I believe family is not necessarily within blood lines. I believe time zones drive me crazy as does sales taxes. I believe in being a kid at heart and having the most fun possible. I believe in waiting my turn in line and respecting my elders. I believe everyone should be listened to and heard out and that no one is invisible. I believe public transportation should be accessible to all and that everyone should feel safe in their surroundings. I believe a clean living space is vital to my personal sanity and a warm shower feels good at any time. I believe businesses should not charge for water or to recycle anything when it can be done so. I believe the sprinklers in my apartment complex go off far too often and that water conservation is vital to passing on the benefits we have now to the younger generation. Most of all, I believe an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so I always get my flu shot and keep a large stock of toilet paper on hand at all times.

The most important to me is freedom. That government needs to stay out of our lives as much as possible. We have way to much goverment control now and it needs to stop.

I agree with Amber the Bobcat. Too much government control is not the American way. Other than my belief in God, I would have to say the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It works.

Yep! That's one of mine, as well.

My other important beliefs:

Compassion, kindness, and charity.
Being honest at all times, even if telling/living the truth doesn't benefit me.
Being hard-working.
Cleanliness.
A strong belief in God, and living by His word, but not becoming sanctimonious.
Thou shalt not commit adultery (not that I've ever been tempted!
)
Being frugal, but not stingy, especially toward others in need.
Preparing for emergencies (food storage, saving money for emergencies, disaster planning, etc.)
Providing a good, loving, comfortable, clean home for DH and our cats. (With 9, the "clean" part isn't easy!)
Compassion toward animals, and seeing it as my life's work to take in stray cats, and donate to rescue organizations, when possible.

Believing that my little boy is the cutest sweetest little boy in the world and knowing that it is really true. Really I'm not just saying that because He is mine. He really is. You can even ask my Mom.

Your Bible must read the same as mine

Seeing God in ALL mankind is a real challenge for me, and I work hard everyday to keep a contrite heart (I find it easier to trust and like animals
).
I try to remember that I should be a blessing to anyone whose path I cross; that way, Heaven can do much good through me

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I believe that we all go thru trying times in our lives to make us into the people we are today. I also believe in stand up for what I feel is right and not comprimising on those issues. I believe that as long as I love myself I dont need anyone else to love me. I believe above everything else in myself, that I can do what I set my mind do, that Im a strong happy loved person, that Im going to be a work in progress being the best that I can be.

The most important thing to me is that people treat animals with respect and kindness and take very good care of them. Also important to me is that people realize that"disabled" people are also treated with respect and that they realize that "disabled"people are not always completely helpless and that there is no reason to be afraid of them.
