Hi all, I need to vent my anger hope you don't mind. I sell quite alot on ebay and I have just sold a necklace set to an overseas buyer, she won it on the tuesday of last week and I emailed her to tell her it was our bank holiday that weekend and that the post would be disrupted and if she could pay before the bank hol then it may take a few days longer to reach her and also if she wasn't paying until after the bank hol then I couldn't post until tuesday and the post may be still disrupted for a few days.
Anyway she paid on the thursday so I posted it friday, I emailed her again and told her this and that it probably wouldn't arrive until later this week or possibly even early next week, ebay also always says that if you are buying from overseas then please leave upto 21 days, even though it shouldn't take that long.
Well tonight I have looked on my ebay and she has left me a nuetral feedback
all it says is "not arrived yet", oh my gosh people like this make me so mad and I am fuming I have sent her a nice message stating that I am not happy and that she should have read my messages properely and also look at when she bought the item it says that to allow a bit longer for postage. I sell alot of things to people overseas and I have never dealt with someone so stupid and that is putting it mildly. I have sent her a feedback revision request form but I doubt she will change it. I love ebay and there are just a minority of people who spoil it for others.
Rant over, sorry

I disagree! I have been buying Mac keyboards on ebay as they have the old kind that I can type on and not the new flat kind. I have been taken by a seller more than once and ebay and pay pal have been there for me.

BTW anybody want to buy a FRENCH AZERTY keyboard! <sigh>

Some ebayers are morons! I buy a LOT of stuff from ebay, about once a week, so I see a ton of feedback in my travels. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some of it is. Admittedly, sometimes a buyer will accidentally hit the wrong feedback response, but they can go back, and clarify it with a comment--which I've seen sometimes, i.e., "I mistakenly left a negative; this really should be a positive."

In the 11 years I've been on ebay, I've never had so much trouble with sellers as I've had this year! First, poor quality fabric from a seller I've bought from before; one person sent a sent of glasses, which were very poorly wraped (cut my finger on a broken glass; had to fight with over refunding for the broken one); chipped dish; another set of the same glasses; seller mistakenly listed the set of 5, when it was only 4; fabric that went missing (twice, but I think it was the post office, not the seller, who sent # 3 free); silver bars that were fraudently listed, and were not pure silver (got my $135 back from ebay!!!); in July, a seller sent my necklace to another customer; now, I'm dealing with yet ANOTHER seller, who sent me the wrong necklace on July 28th. He has such poor communication skills! He was on vacation for 2 weeks after I reported the error to him. I sent it back (for a full PayPal refund) last week; tracking shows he got it, yet now, PayPal unfroze the transaction, and is charging me for it! I just got done emailing him. I also told him that he should refund the return shipping, as it was his error. Today is September 1st, and I'm getting tired of this problem!

All in all, though, I have a posititive experience with eBay. I've met some delightful sellers there; I've even met a couple in person, and became friends.

Only if more sellers were like you! I hope you can get this settled. BTW, you can petition the person to cancel the feedback, or at least, respond to it to clarify it.

Yes it is just this past year since ebay have been changing alot of things and whilst I repect the decision that sellers cannot leave neutral or negative feedbck in some circumstances it is necessary. As both a business and a personal account holder on ebay I can see it from both sides, I agree there are some lovely people on ebay but alot who let it down for others. I have sent her a feedback revision request but she hasn't responded

I personally dont care for Ebay, one because Im not all about sitting on an auction hoping Im getting something I want or need. I really prefer to just have a set price and bam there Ive got what I wanted or needed. Also I dont trust Ebay, while most people have had positive experiances the one and only time I bought something off Ebay I was too irritated to try and buy anything off there again.

Last summer I had to purchase new front corner lights for my car to have it pass inspection. I bought the lights 4 months before I even had to get the car ready, email after email I kept getting "oh their shipped they are on their way" and because Im generally the type of person who gives others the benefit of the doubt I didnt report anything to Ebay directly. Finally the day before I had to take my car for the registration and pick up my inspection sticker I got the lights. It was a great deal, 20 bucks for both lights, but theres no way it took 4 mths to get from Ohio to Pa, I could have ridden a bicycle there quicker and picked them up.

BFs dad sells and buys alot of car stuff off Ebay and loves it he hasnt had too many problems with stuff. The last problem I can think of that he has had was when he purchased 74 Nova door handles and locks and the description said perfect and they were HORRIBLE so he contacted the seller and it turned out the guys wife who set everything up accidentally mismatched the good ones and the bad ones, quick fix the guy shipped the good ones and also paid for the shipping to return the junk ones.

I've been selling my old text books through half.com, part of ebay, and I'm so annoyed at the people who never leave feedback!! I've sold a good 4 books and have yet to receive any feedback from people on it. Never had much of a problem buying from there yet, but there certainly are a lot of stupid people on there. We've had a dispute or two before on there too.

I sold a couple of rings, some DVDs and CDs on Ebay recently. I also hate that some people don't leave feedback. But the stuff I have bought has been good. I haven't had any problems. I read the person's feedback before I buy though.

When I do sell stuff, I pride myself on speedy shipping. I usually mail the item the next business day after I receive the payment, and I only accept Paypal. the people that do leave feedback are happy. I just got my turquoise star for a feedback score of 100!

I love eBay, and have never had a problem buying anything, and never had a problem with Paypal. I've only had one issue selling...the person never made the payment, never responded to any of my communication, etc., so I canceled the transaction through eBay (it was 5 years ago, so the details are sort of vague to me now.) I never bothered leaving any feedback for that buyer...didn't want to risk negative return feedback. I usually prefer the 'Buy it now' option, when available....rather than bidding, and waiting for the end of an auction. I've always left positive feedback (never had any reason to leave neutral or negative.) It does bother me when sellers don't return the favor and also leave feedback.

I am currently having an issue with a seller on eCrater.com. I e-mailed a question about an item, the seller replied within a few hours. I purchased the item, paid with Paypal (Aug 8th) and haven't received the item, a confirmation of receipt of payment from the seller, tracking number, nor any responses to multiple e-mails. I will most likely open a dispute with Paypal on Sept 8th, if I don't hear from the seller before then. It's only $11, but hey, it ticks me off! If nothing else, respond to my e-mails, so I know what's going on!

Ive had many successes on Ebay, and a couple problems. Ive pretty much had it with paypal due to their royal screw up on my account (their mistake) earlier this year. I dont feel I can trust them with any credit card info, which means I havnt bought anything off ebay in a few months

One of my biggest pet peeves on ebay is sellers who beg for feedback. I usually get emails immediately after I complete my purchase asking(its really more demanding, and they usually state that they withold buyer feedback until said buyer leaves them positive feedback - thats blackmail), and Im never going to leave positive until I get the item AND am satisfied with it (at which point I always leave glowing feedback).
I feel hassled by these seller who should NOT be bothering me until some appropriate period of time has passed (you know, at least a few days - until they can assume realistically I have the item). I have NO PROBLEM leaving neutral or negative feedback if I get screwed around by a seller, and if I left neutral feedback because I felt the transaction was not positve, and then got asked to revise the feedback - Id revise it to negative with a comment stating why - this has actually happened to me before. I get so frustrated at both sellers and buyers who think they deserve a positive rating simply if an item at all changes hands. I think too many people see an entitlement to feedback, which is why they are all up in arms if they dont get it/get negative, and really, no one ever HAS to provide it.

I'm not on ebay much anymore, and I've never tried selling anything. I've fortunately always had good luck with buying. The worst I had was one person in Canada who didn't ship my item. I waited and waited, and when I emailed him he apologized profusely and sent it out immediately. I've even bought software and a laptop computer and been happy with my purchases.

My husband has been selling off his old early 1900s baseball cards. He had some in really good condition, some in poor. We were selling them at pretty good prices, and a lot of the people who purchased were selling them in their own stores for more money. We were doing straight auctions versus setting prices, so the cards were going for good prices.
We sold a set of cards together and mailed them out the day after the buyer paid. We sent the cards with a delivery confirmation, and sent the buyer the number. The buyer messaged us two days after payment to find out why the cards were not there. We reminded him that the tracking can show him exactly where the cards were. They showed up delivered (across the US) after I think 3/4 days. He messages us TWO WEEKS later to ask where his cards are. We send him the tracking number again, where it shows that the cards were confirmed delivered to this persons home address. He responds that he has not gotten them. We called the post office in his area, to find out the chances of this being scanned delivered and NOT delivered. And they said it was not possible. We send him that information...and he writes back he called his post office and they said it was not delivered.
He had won more cards from us in the meantime. We sent those, and he recieved them. After he recieved those, he filed a case with ebay, stating that the 2nd package he recieved was very damaged and he thinks that his first package had been damaged and that he wants the full price refunded. We refused a refund, as it was shown delivered.
Ebay and Paypal also refused a refund, as it was shown delivered. He was angry as he said that had he received the cards, he would be re-selling in his own store, so we should know he didnt get them.
Almost two months later, he messaged to say they were "delivered to a neighbor" who finally brought them to him, and he listed them in his own online store.
Luckily he didn't leave negative feedback! I would have been so mad. We try to make a disclaimer so that people message us before leaving feedback, because of situations like yours, OP.
I also just purchased a purse off ebay....listed in used but very good condition. It was not a really cheap purse either!! I got it, and it has 1 noticeable stain on the front, and a couple smaller not too noticeable ones. In the ad about the purse, they listed is as clean w/ no stains. I messaged her instead of leaving bad feedback...as people should!
Maybe your person is just new to this and didn't realize what the best action to take was?
