you know when i was a kid i used to really want to stay up late but now i want sleep this has gone on since college to be honest late nihts early mornings its not really a good mix

The really strange thing is my body is so damn tired but my eyes aren't I dunno if that makes sense. I have had a lass of wine see if that would help relax me to go to sleep but no it hasnt (and i know i shouldnt turn to drink), i've stopped drinking coffee after 6pm again hasnt helped, ive tried clearin my head before i o to sleep like settle todays goings on and i picture myself floatin in a swimming pool, counting sheep but nothin is helping

Basically im pooped and i wanted a bit of a rant about it

Hiding from my SS!
I have trouble sleeping myself. Unfortunately the only solution we have found for me includes a low dose of sleeping medication, which I hate having to take that stuff but it makes my anxiety worse if I don't sleep so...

Actually the medication is only one part. The doctor said a nightly routine to tell your mind its time to shut down is helpful, I have found it helps. I have to get started about 1 1/2 hours before I want to sleep. I change out of my clothes into pajamas. Do the once over of the house (doors locked, stove off, cats have food, etc.). Make a cup of tea (I use raspberry but some people like chamomile) and turn off all the lights except a dim one in the bedroom. I sip the tea slowly (sitting in the dark/dimly lit area) while trying to untangle the days events in a sort of meditation type thing. Do the nightly hygiene routine (brush teeth, hair, etc.) and take my medicine. I play soft piano music that is designed to help one sleep. Then I read until the words stop making sense and turn out the light to sleep.

It took a long time to develop my routine and if I break it I suffer by not being able to sleep even with meds. Insomnia sucks. One thing I have found definitely helps most people I know is turning out all the lights, TV and computer for awhile even before bedtime. Something about the dark and quiet helps tune people out. And if you wake up in the middle of the night try to turn on as few lights as possible because that can wake your mind up.

I hope by the time I get done writing all this you have managed to nod off.

Makes total sense. Usually the problem with me is my brain, not my eyes, but I've had that one.

Hope your eyes got tired!
