My poor Coco has been very sick with a URI the last few days.
I have had to force feed her the last 2 days and use vicks with a vaporizer.
The discharge from her nose was very thick and green.
Now she has a cough.
She started antibiotics on sat and the discharge is almost gone.
Her poor nose is a mess and she is very weak.
She can barely walk now.
If anyone has advice let me know.

I have heard previous advice about putting a stuffy kitty in a bathroom and let hot water run and steam up the bathroom, but I would be afraid of phneumonia in this case, since she is so weak. Anyone agree?

Did the vet OK the vicks? I had never heard of that, it is interesting..
I am glad the discharge is almost gone ... but am so sorry she is so weak. Still praying and thinking of her and you

I just make her smell the vicks.
I was told to steam the bathroom with her in there and use a vaporizer.
I gave her some Hi Tor tonight.

My vet gave me something to add to the vaporizer water before (yrs ago). I didn't get a bottle or anything, just a pre-measured syringe with a clear liquid in it. It didn't have any smell, I think it was a med or something... you could ask your vet if they have anything for vaporizers.

Thanks Everyone,
Coco ate today and meowed for food.
We have another problem though.
Her back left paw is swollen with fluid.
It is the food part.
I ahve no idea what it is from.

There's no place like home
Are you giving her sub-q's and if so, how often? My CRF boy used to retain water pockets in his legs from time to time and so it may not be unusual, it's best to call your vet.

My CRF boy had chronic URI's all of his life. In his later years and it was always hardest on him when his respiratory problems flared up. Even if Coco is feeling better, keep steaming her in the bathroom whenever you shower. You want to keep her lungs as clear as possible. As you saw, when their scent is impaired, they eat even less.

Sending your way.

Coco gets fluids every other day.
The fluid in her back paw is something else.
