Not an emergency but I need someone's advice right quick.

Is Blue Buffalo a good brand for cats and dogs?

What about science diet?

I have coupons for Blue Buffalo and someone donated science diet to me.

If you didn't read my previous thread, my cat lost a ton of weight recently due to an illness and I am trying to put some weight on her.

A friend recommended blue buffalo and was thinking of getting some for both Meatloaf and my dog, both of which have severe skin allergies.

But someone donated 32 cans of wet science diet to me because they knew we rescued cats.

Is science diet a good brand?

Science diet IMHO is = to most of what is at the grocery strore... Now that is not the same as a RX food by science diet called Hills

Canned use it , it is not nearly the same as dry

Blue Is a very good brand

I have 33 cats inside and a few ferals I trapped/neutered/returned. I also buy my moms 3 cats food. I feed purina or Science diet dry depending on sales I hit. And for the most part Friskies wet food.

I tried a few foods that flat out failed-blue was one of the ones my cats just seemed to hate. Whatever you get start small and mix the new/old foods to prevent the tummy upsets.

Thanks for your replies. I bought a small bag of blue buffalo. three out of 4 cats (obviously the 4th cat is Meatloaf, the one I bought the food for) love the new food.

Meatloaf turns her nose up at it.

I am going to try mixing science diet with it and her friskies to wean her onto blue buffalo.

I really need to get her healthy again!

IMO, one key aspects is what the kitty will eat - and if it's Friskies and kitty is doing well, well, don't knock the Friskies

Have you talked to the vet at all - there are some prescription foods that are designed for high nutrient density - or maybe even feeding kitten food might be an idea - but I know me - I'd be talking to the vet about the ranges of what I could try.

I 100% agree , though I would hope kitty will thrive and like something above Friskies

well the main problem I'm having is she doesn't want to eat anything, and everything she does gives her diarrhea. the vet was horrible and charged me $200 for nothing

i think that blue buffalo might have been good to put weight on . another one is wellness core. Also Innova Evo although it has been bought by P&G who have lowered the quality on pet food when they previously bought companies so likely the same will happen with Evo. But maybe they have not changed it yet or maybe a bag you could get now would have been made before they took over 2 months ago. Anyway the dry of Innova EVO packs over 600 calories a cup and it is a good one for putting on weight.
