On my father's side - German and English that I know about.
On my mother's side - French and German. Mostly French.
I've traced back quite far in the tree, but enough walls that there could be some mix in there I'm not aware of.

I really love learnng about different ethnic groups and different cultures. (No wonder I studied anthropology and geography at the university
)
I never noticed you before or where you were from. What an honor to have somebody from Iceland on TCS! I really love it when people tell where they are from. It makes our cat community that much more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.

I was born in the U.S. My mother's mother and maternal grandparents emigrated from Hungary in the early 1900's. I have a copy of my great grandfather's certificate of naturalization from January 16, 1928 (he was 41 years old at the time.) My mother, along with her cousins, have spent an enormous amount of time and effort, documenting the family history.

My father's heritage is Scottish and Irish, but I know very little about his family.

Well I was raised here in Kentucky and I have the thick accent to prove it.
But on my dad's side is mostly Irish and on my mom's side well her mom was mostly cherokee and irish, but she favored more the cherokee in her it was pretty obvious, and her dad's side was irish and half choctaw but they say on grandma's

I'm Finnish, but my grandma (father's side) is Swedish. She did some genealogy few years ago and said that there are Norwegians in her family too. That's as much as I know, my mom's side of the family hasn't got a clue about their background or then they just haven't told me.

Basically I'm a stereotypical blonde (but I've dyed it black) with skin white enough for it to 'glow' in the dark and dark green eyes.

I am Finnish (mother's side) and Scottish/Irish (dad's side). I grew up hearing Gaelic and Finnish and Finglish (my grandmother tried to combine every English word with a Finnish ending).

Meanwhile, my Finnish grandmother had black hair and people over here (Canada) didn't believe she was Finnish because they thought all Finns had blonde hair!

On my mom's side, I'm Scotch-Irish, French Huguenot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huguenot) that made their way to Pennsylvania pre-revolutionary war via England (my grandad's side), and German Mennonites that settled in one of William Penn's first colonies on my maternal grandmother's side. Although Grammie decided not to become Mennonite, most of those relatives still are, and there's an extended family village basically still in/around the original settlement. I'm in possession of one set of the family Bibles, one of which is in German with the family tree, and the bible was printed before Philadelphia burned in the war of 1812.

On my Dad's side, I have primarily Irish and English roots. But funny enough, due to a clerical error in the war of 1812, my dad's family name got changed, and the last name got the "O" dropped and a "w" was changed to a "u." My paternal grandmother (who considered herself SO cultured) was always bothered by the fact that my maternal grandmother (who was "just" a farmer) could have become a DAR if she wanted to pursue it.

....so Scotch, Irish, German, French and English... basically I'm also "pasty white," though Gary likes to joke that most of my ancestors got booted out of completely respectable European countries.
